Notes (11-20-99):When I got this show, it was SBDmc>DAT>CD. The tracks were not indexed
and there was a noticible hiss throughout. I ripped the "track", and with Cool Edit, was able to take a good noise sample from the tape flip of the master right before the music started up again (tape flip is start of track 03 on D2).I removed the sampled noise from the rest of the file. The end product is definitely cleaner sounding than my original. There is some "fishbowl" effect in segments between tracks, as that is where the hiss was more prominant in the mix. Once the music starts...it's all good again (very good at that).
Also...There is a crackling sound on both discs here and there. At first, I figured it to be digi noise, but after a few listens...you can tell it's a problem with Phil's equipment. Someone says "I think it's your bass.." at the end of Sugar Mag, beforethe "Sunshine Daydream" segment, so It must be present on the master. The un-Cool Edited version is also available.
Enjoy!Nick Georgeswalstib@rmi.net |

"Yep, there was no encore the previous night so they started with Sat night."
I think your thinking of a show from '86, not this one. |

| I believe the previous night was Pittsburgh on 7/02 and there were two encores. Revolution and Brokedown Palace |

| There was a 90,000 acre out of control fire burning in Ventura County that weekend. It was termed the Ojai fire, at the time one of the largest on record. Prior to the show start flames could be seen at the top of the hill beyond the venue. (Hence the FOTM) The fairgrounds bordered the beach, and afterward most went for a swim to cool off. There was so much smoke it looked like sunset at around 2:00 pm. The fire eventually burned to the ocean before it was controlled days later. GREAT music that weekend! Smokestack Lightning on Sunday. |
