Picky???
I tried to listen to 4/9 & that static sucks. The mics would have been better without it.
I wouldn't thank Chris D.
I'd tell him to suck my balls.
His rig sucks.
Distortion in 2009???

As much as I hate to appear to be complaining, I think that it should be more along the lines of constructive criticism.
Yes, puunjab is correct, but very inflammatory and defeating the purpose of trying to figure out the problem.
Was the problem, not in the patch, but the preamp? or recorder levels?
Is there a setting that will do an automatic +4 or +10db, professional gear has that. This helps to control the gain structure and account for differences in the cables used.
I think that the problem here is the lineage stated as:
XLR -> ? -> RCA -> Nomad
between the xlr and the rca, needs to be a "DI-Box" It resolves all the line levels and provides a consistant output of data.
Anytime I mix pro wiring with consumer wiring I use mt DI-Box, since it is rare to get the sbd patch, it is equally rare that you bring a DI-Box with you...
I have been taking multiple mics with me to see what I can do depending on the space, so with it, I bring one of those Behringer Euro Mixer, it is powered with 9V Batteries and accepts XLR and 1/4", which are the profesional cables, the outputs are many, there are the xlr, 1/4", digital coax and rca, this also is capable of providing the current needed to keep a constant 48Volts to the mics...
I am sure that there is a portable DI-Box available in the $50 range and I don't think that there are any real expensive ones because this problem is associated with the Proffesional meets the Amateur and that is an unusual happening.
If you don't get a di-box, check out some of the cables that are custom made. They vary as your situation, but it is rather easy to get an XLR -> 1/4" or RCA, I certainly can say for sure that in my bag of tricks are numerious converters, all are 2" long, stainless steel and are made to convert XLR to any other cable. For $12 each, you could get an XLR F-> RCA F, I think that is right (the M/F).
I bring them with me always as they take little space and are very handy.
To me, that is the problem here. The xlr feed was juiced, as it is supposed to be, but there was no buffer between to reduce the juice.
I think that this is a live and learn thing, that it can be a valuable asset to understand this stuff next time you get a sbd feed.
As always the effort is appreciated, but, to be honest, this should have been picked out immediately after the transfer. I hate to say, but it seems to fit the situation...
To take your recording and to seed the transfer, knowing the magnitude of the distortion is careless, at the least.
This same thing happened to me one time when I was using a sound designs mix-pre -> marantz CF recorder. I was happy to see the xlr into the preamp and out to the marantz, but the first recording resulted in this exact same static.
I learned that if I was using an external preamp, I needed to use the 1/8" input on the recorder. So I had to buy a custom 2-xlr -> 1-1/8" stereo mini. Sounds bad, but it made all the difference. the recordings using that are fantastic.
The issue was that I was juicing the mics with the preamp and the levels were set on the preamp, I just set them real low on the marantz, but that will not work, the xlr needs an appropriate conversion to consumer levels. This is with the all in one 722's and such, that is different as it is all in one box, but $5,000...
Anyway, that would be my take on this and suggestion for future reference. It's a shame, there is a really nice low end shelf that rocks, but the louder you play it, the worse it gets...
I feel for ya, but this is something we all learn some how.
I would say, you should have used better judgement when seeding this, IMO, there was a lot of time spent compiling it and even more when considering the time everyone took to grab this. Your note about the distortion was so far to the aside, that I and I bet everyone else, discounted it, when that little note renders the recording unlistenable and seeded using bad judgement. Again, I hope you earned from this, trust your ears, if you can't let someone else listen, to get a 2nd qc check is required as far as anything I seed in public.
Peace,
Mike T.

BurntHostage420, just because you see G. Love listed at LMA, does not mean much at all. The material you linked was all lossy, I do my best to avoid all lossy compression and sources. These lossy sources are one of the largest contributions to all the piss in the non-dead pool.
Your comment, as I mentioned in line with this seed is misleading and contributes to the crap that we have to wade through to get one good recording.
There are lossless sources on LMA, but to say, point blank, there is lots of G. Love on LMA, is a direct reflection of your mis-understanding of audio and why lossless audio should be maintained and not turned to mp3, just to deviously convert back to flac and try to pass it as lossy. Think before you act, you will be doing all of us a favor.
All this and a lot more information related to this as well as guaranteed lossless, quality seeds. We are no different than Dime, except we take lossless audio serious and can back that up with the archive of analysis done by our mods.
