Source Info:
Two audience tapes of unknown source and lineage.
Source "A" provides Set One and Roadrunner.
Source "B" provides I'll Take A Melody thru Tangled Up In Blue.

Transfer info:
Maxell UD cassettes (c.1982) > Sony TC-D5M > Marantz CDR-500 >
EAC > WAV > Soundforge > CD-Wave > FLAC Frontend

Notes:
-Patrick Gym was a typical shoe-box basketball gym: stage at one end,
chairs going up the middle, and aprx 15 rows of bleachers along the back wall.
-Source "A" is very listenable, and sounds like it was taped on the floor.
-Source "B" has many problems, possibly taped further back (in the bleachers?).
-Source "B" is muffled and boomy throughout, and has much more audience noise.
-The last 56 seconds of Deal is different from source "A" (possibly source "B"?).
-Smoothed tape beginnings, ends, tape-flips, and blurry pauses between tracks.
-Adusted volume of How Sweet It Is downward, to match the rest of source "A".
-Normalized volume and adjusted pitch for 56-second patch at end of Deal.
-One-second drop-out at 0:16 of Roadrunner (left as is).
-Removed some hiss in the highest band due to cassette generations.
-Removed some low-end in source "B" to limit the overpowing boominess.
-Removed further hiss in right channel of source "B" and normalized gain.
-Smoothed many volume fluctuations that were present throughout source "B".
-Smoothed-down a few harsh yells in source "B"; left the claps mostly as-is.
-Removed a tape-flip music-overlap (not from master) in Don't Let Go,
and seemlessly patched the two parts back together to one track.
-Pathed left channel over right for applause after Tangled Up, due to dropouts.

Until a better tape surfaces, this is what we have for this great Nov-81 show.
Highlights are standout versions of Let it Rock, Don't Let Go, and Dixie.
ENJOY! 3/13/05

THANK YOU!!!!! This was my request, and my first JGB show. Can't wait to hear it. Thanks again!

Thank you very much for the Garcia!

THANK YOU!

Uh-huh... just as I thought... I see that NONE OF YOU WHO POSTED COMMENTS hit the "Thank You" button... SHAMELESS!!!

What? No thank you button...? Oh, OK... (HAR! HAR! A good ol' Garcia/Road Crew ribbing... if you can't stand the volume, STAY OFF THE STAGE! Right?) Anyway, lotta fun...
I have the 13th and the 15th, and, oddly, only about a half dozen other '81 Garcia shows (which is REALLY STRANGE... How can I have so much stuff and NOT have more '81? Be that as it may...)

Thanks a lot for this. It's very, very cool. Thank you for providing the great music, the great companionship via the website and the GREAT SERVICE for running the server and all the stuff. It is WAAAAYYYY COOL and and I have to say, I LOVE THIS WEBSITE! bt.etree is one of the loosest, funnest, most varied (for GD type stuff...), and hippest, as in no problems, taking it easy, not getting upset, and being accomodating, letting people be people, and being of "good cheer"!

RIGHT ON! DIG THIS GARCIA! E-TREE ROCKS! THANK YOU ALL!

In these days, lack of cynicism and mean-spiritedness is a VERY WELCOME RELIEF! Why did The Dead back Obama? Because he's cool... forget the last eight years and embrace the NEW BETTER AMERICA!!! Why "new" and "better"? Because EACH AND EVERY ONE OF US is going to try to make it that way, right? Peace. Cool. Love. ...and thanks.
