Here is last night's Ekoostik Hookah show from Curtice, Ohio. Sorry I did not get this up earlier, but after a late night, I was back at it in Bowling Green all day today with the Quarry Festival! I origanally planned on leaving the Quarry Festival last night as soon as Greensky Bluegrass ended. Hookah was scheduled to start at 10:00. I received an email from Dubba that the Hookah show was at 9:00, with NO opener! GSBG were slated from 6:00 - 8:00. They went on about 6:45 and I started to think, how will I make it on time when I have close to an hour drive? I pulled the plug at 8:23 and had to break all my gear down, say goodbye to GSBG, and get in the Jeep and make tracks.
I had printed directions, and still had to stop twice for help. Talk about hard to find! I arrived at the Marina and parked. i then walked as fast as I could to the Bitter End. I ran in and started to set up next to Todd and Red Dawg. They had not started! Whew. I arrived at 9:50, the first note was at 9:53. This place was right on Lake Erie.
A solid first set with a couple of Mullins favorites, Harmonic Convergence and Athens County. Cliff did a nice rendition of Vann Morrison's Caravan. A very strong ending with the Indica&Sativa/Bottle of Wine sandwich, and then Ecstasy! At setbreak, I was able to hang with Dave and John, and presented them with the Charlie Hunter show from Thursday. Nice traveling music to drive back to.
The second set started with a new one, or at least new to me, All Fall Into Dreams. A rare treat, my first time seeing Dan Mesnard sit in with the boys for a Music. I have seen Dan play in Dave's band, but never with Hookah. Can anyone confirm how many times or how often that has happened in the past? He played a mean solo as well! City of New Orleans is always welcome in a setlist for me. But one of my favorites was next, Arctic Song! I have heard that twice this year recently, after not seeing it for nearly 5 years! I was glad i got to see Ragin' River close it all out. I heard from Red Dawg that it was played the night before, making it the only repeat. Some Kiss for the encore, than out into the Lake air, get in my Jeep, and find how to get out of there!
Late night snack was a Tuna Subway on Italian Herbs and Cheese. Great hangin' with Todd, Corinne and Terry, Bev, Bob, Christian, Alex, Bradley, Jeff and Matt P., and Red Dawg! Buddy did his thang on lights, as Dan mixed sound nicely!
