I also have copies of the Bad Hat 9/10/94 (Portland, ME) and 2/23/94 (Middlebury, VT)... if there's interest, I'd be happy to post those as well :)

Awesome, Jason. I've got 1/13/94 from the Last Elm and 2/14/94 from St. Mike's (former from the sole analog master, latter from a second gen cassette) ... why don't we get 'em all up here?
forbin1221 2009-05-16 17:02:43
Outstanding, I loved this back in the day and its been ages since I've heard it....Thank you so much
jasonsobel 2009-05-16 17:08:51

Alright, here's an update, Bad Hat fans. I've gone back to listen to the winter '04 recordings for the first time in a decade or more. The 1/13/94 sounds pretty good ... however, there are some strange fade out/ins between some of the tracks. I'd always presumed I had transfers from my friend's masters, but the fades give me pause. Maybe the taper who transferred these tapes to CD for me (circa 1997? 1998?) did the fades? Whatever the case, I've e-mailed by buddy to check the status of the original tapes, if they even exist at all anymore. If indeed there's no improvement to be made, I'll seed what I have, since it's a totally enjoyable listen in its present state. The St. Mike's tape is in a bit rougher condition. Everything's audible enough, but there's a certain amount of tape flux in spots, and there's a very unkind cut halfway through Country Open. Is there still interest in this, as a historical item for completists? I've already FLACed it and can upload, but wanted to give fair warning that it may come as a disappointment after this very nicely recorded Iron Horse gig . . .
jazzooo 2009-05-16 18:25:14
uh, winter '94, that is .... where do the decades get away to, anyway?
jazzooo 2009-05-16 20:05:03
FYI, the "unknown" track is Milton Nasciemento's "Nozani Na", a longtime JMP staple . . . check out the incredible jam growing out of the tune ... somewhere around the 9:20 mark, Trey had his guitar laid flat on stage, and was whipping it with his guitar strap! This is beautiful, thanks again Jason!

jazzooo - I'd like to hear the two other Bad Hat shows that you have, even if they're not technically perfect, and I'd guess that most people here feel the same way. fwiw, both the 9/10/94 and 2/23/94 recordings that I'll post are both soundboard > DAT recordings, and are both very nice too :)
eee 2009-05-16 21:00:02
i'll second jason. count me in for any and all uncirculated bad hat. thanks for the new blood.
garajfan 2009-05-16 21:02:32

coltrane74 2009-05-16 21:02:43
