Phish are using the POS Digidesign venue console (100% digital in every way) to mix the FOH sound now. New sound guy also is using completely different mics on drums and Gordon's bass.

From the sbd shows I have lsitening to, the new sound man needs to clean his ears out, ditch that POS Venue piece of crap, and get with the program. The sound is nothing more than very crispy, with little warmth, and no body. Fishman's kick drum can't be found on any of the recordings, which is funny because the new sound guy seems to have a hard on for using the Yamaha Sub Sonic mic (looks like a mini tom in front of the kick bass). He has one on Fishman's kit, and he also has one in front of Gordon's stacks as well. Looks like he is using something other than Paul's RE27 inside the kick, but bottom line, there ain't no attack in Fishman's kick anymore and it isn't even discernable in the mix. Mike's bass is gone too from the heart thumping chocolate fudge sound he used to have back in the day.

Digidesign need to stick with writing software and not trying to get bands to mix live shows on a software program, because it sounds terrible on the end product. My 2 cents, but the new Phish sound sucks in a big way. Hope they can convince whoever is using that Venue POS to ditch it and go with a better sounding FOH console. Pathetic to say the least.

----- Bad seller. This is a fraud. Go listen to the Big Cypress FOB splits and compare. This is just wrong. Seeder should be banned or ostracized.

Thanks for this. I think it sounds amazing.
Shark420 2009-06-06 11:46:55
Well, since I was at the show, I'm gonna have to give this a listen, even though I am perfectly happy with the recording I made. The comments here are all over the map, from 'yes, this is amazing' to 'no, I don't think so...' but it was certainly a good show so having a couple of different sources ain't a bad thing... by the way, which source, specifically, is Keith's?

You guys are all a bunch of fags!
kntckymule 2009-06-06 22:53:03
yeah, but this set of fags is much better sounding than that other set of fags.

I ran into the set of fags that was to the right of the board and there was just no rear-end to them.

The fags with the hyper-caps seem much more bright.

but the fags from way down front were extra crispy, except they had no seperation.

the group of fags that were split by 80 feet were labeled as A+++, but they were just your routine fags - due to processing.

I'd really like to find me a group of unprocessed fags. because I've actually got real good equipment that I play with my fags on and they squeal real purty when I hit the sweet spot!

anyways, Thanks to all the fags - I appreciate your fagginess.

LOL, Thanks for that kntckymule.

I downloaded this several days ago and hadn't paid much attention to it yet.

I just took the song 'Simple' decoded the flac and put it in
Pro Tools. I cut the upper mids, hell it was a big junk of the high end, and gave it a boost at 113hz, and cut below 40hz and now it sounds wonderful.

What is a band without cymbals!?, just not that much!

Thanks to the tapers.

I 'work' on almost everything I ever download including
any official downloads I get.

It's all part of the fun folks.

totally agree that you just lost some credibility with the useless BS tagging of this source. not that hot.
