Can somebody post which audiences are the good ones to give a try? I have bought a few songs from various summer shows from livephish and the soundboard mixes suck ass. The new soundman needs to get it together because they are the worst sounding releases I have heard from this band in 20 years.
Phish sure misses Paul. The new guy sucks. |

FOH team only does the PA. The recordings apparently are 100 percent out of his hands...
This recording is super fabulous! I typically prefer OTS, and this one is all there!

It's the equipment the new guy chooses to use on Phish tour that is a big part of the problem. Same stuff he used on Trey tour, so I don't concider him all that "new" with what is going on. A guy who has articles written about him claiming him to be a well respected and phenomenal FOH mixer who toured with Trey Anastasio isn't new to the game, and the mix is awful. Point taken though, and I could have said it a little better. My apologies. It isn't a shock though when learning what gear they are using on tour now. Shame.
Appreciate the Audience recordings which blow the roof off anything Phish are selling right now. Thanks. |

for a site that i always thought would be full of peace-loving hippies, the amount of negativity and ill-will is shocking. people are sharing free music here. the times that i bring myself to read the comments always leaves me feeling like this is a site full of a bunch of angry ingrates, and people trying to out-do one another and elevate their own self-image by putting down others. it's sad.
to bash the new FOH soundman while touting the excellence of the audience tapes relative to the SBD matrix that the band provides is a bit ironic, since the FOH sound man is the one bringing you the beloved mix you hear coming out of the PA. the tapes the band releases 30 minutes after each show are just a more pure version of what the tapers are recording, due to a good dash of the direct feed. personally, i think the sbd's are pretty darn good-sounding recordings of the show. any taper (me included) would be thrilled to get a patch out of that mix on any given night. get a grip.
