he played at the Sonic Stage afterward for a 30 minute set a few hours later. I missed the Other Tent set and thought the smaller stage and area would be really cool. The sound was terrible, Tony got upset that he couldn't hear himself or anything else, and we couldn't hear him at all! Bummer too. Since everything on that stage was running 15 minutes over before he got on, they only got a few songs. In the end, they cut the monitors off so their mics wouldn't overload anymore and used a different mic to mic up Tony. We were all happy for that last song since we could finally hear him.
I had never seen him before, and even though the mic didn't catch him, he still plays damn hard enough to hear him anyway. I heard every note. |

First off big thanks!
I was about 15 feet back DFC of the stage. The sound was not good in the tent. Tony's mic was right on the edge of feedback the whole show and you couldn't hear him very distinctly. As the show moved on, the rest of the band really, really backed off during Tony's solos so they were clearer as the show went on. I can tell you from experience as an acoustic player, guys who make a living mixing rock music have very little clue about mixing acoustic music. Feedback is a much bigger problem, and at least for myself, I like it quiet on stage, I don't have to be louder than a drum set or a Hartke stack. That being said, I had a blast at the show. Hopefully the taper stuck around and got Del. Is that going to be allowed here or do I have to go to TTD?

1000% better than the first time. I drove back and forth each day from home, and the weather was about as good as you could ask for, not too hot, and no rain. I caught Galactic, Al Green, Beastie Boys, and Phish on the main stage Friday. Did the bluegrass/acoustic stage on Saturday. Didn't tape Sunday, but saw Keen, Merle, a little Snoop and Phish.
I heard about your third dood, congrats!
I'll be posting Del McCoury in a little while, and the Grisman set is over here.
