Here is tonight's Dave Matthews Band show. I had Jeff T. throw a line at me a week ago. The drive was 4 hours and I told him no way. Then he called me this morning and it sank in. This may be the only DMB show I can see this summer. I decided to leave work at 2:00 and hauled down 75 South. The ride was boring aS usual. I arrived at the Courtyard in Erlanger at 5:52. We left 5 minutes later and made it to the lot in about 20 minutes. We had 2nd row of the pit, DFCV! we set up in our favorite little nook at row I, by the cutout area DFC. We were hoping to trade back with someone. i set up and ran The Hold Steady. No one was showing up. As people arrived between sets, we had no takers to trade, very strange with 2nd row tickets involved. Suddenly, the lights went out at 8:15 and we went to our back-up plan. We swapped our tickets with Zac and his cute girlfriend!
We are unraveling cables, putting up the stand, taping it to the seat, and clamping on. We were up and rolling just before the opening notes of Shake Me Like A Monkey. Tonight I would witness many of the new songs. in general, there were quite a few mellow songs. The Anyone Seen The Bridge sgued into Too Much. This ended abruptly with a great Ants Marching. Nicely done.i like the new one Who I Am dedicated to Leroi Moore, their fallen Brother. A very nice Jimmi thing tonight. Other highlights were Lie In Our Graves, 1 20 minute #41, and Gray Street. The dude to our right was screaming for Halloween all night. The second song of the encore, he got his wish! A very long show. Off to the hotel. a quick stop at the Mobil Station for food, as both the Subway and Rallies were both closed! I did find Jeff nuking 2 Burritos. I found a frozen Skyline Chili. I nuked it and voilah, dinner.
Great hangin' with my "son" Jeff, Brad, Zac, and our neighbors in the sweet spot. During the encore, a wook was tossing his dinner in the row behind us. Totally disgusting! We had security come with the First Aid team. They removed him via a wheelchair. Happy 47th Jeff!!!!
