Show Notes:
They were experiencing some trouble with John's vocals during Vipor. There was also some "crackle" issues in the PA near the beginning. This was a super cool venue. Anything seemed to go, including pets. Unfortunately, several folks thought it was "cool" to bring their dogs to the show with them. Many of them let their dogs wander and bark, and as a result, they can be heard on the recording in a couple of spots. One of the 2 mic stands contained a "dog magnet" as we found out. Folks, leave your pets at home!

Here is last night's Ekoostik hookah show from Hamilton, Indiana. I was working in Toledo all day and honestly planned to attend Todd Snider at the Ark in Ann Arbor. That is until Frankie began working on me! He is in town from Denver for a bit. He was enticing me to go as the show was only about 1 hour and 45 minutes west of here. I informed him I had to be at work early in the morning. He said no problem, we will drive back after the show. We, hmmm....
Well, it was not as simple as we thought. Our Sysco Reefer truck was not working. I had a freezer full of product and the back end also with lots of product. I had a delivery that arrived at 3:00. my salesman was very cool and was on the grounds of the golf tournament to help me. We could not get a repair mechanic out there. My delivery was the last stop. After about a 30 minute debate, I convinced my salesperson to swap trailers. My boss, salesperson, driver, and myself, had to transfer an entire truckload. It took us until after 4:00. I told Frankie, he had me on board. I still had to get my gear in Michigan, stop by the warehouse, and haul to Waterville to meet him. i was there in just under an hour. We headed out on I-24 West.
We arrived at about 7:15, parked by Hookah, and said hello to Dave and Eric. I went in front of the huge stage, and set up and began rolling The Werks at 7:22! This place, venue, was incredible! It really was beautiful! The owners were way cool and let you alone. The only thing i was not crazy about was they let you bring your dog. Too many dogs in the mix. I really do not know why these idiots feel compelled to bring their dogs and let them yap! It was a pain in the neck. This place was huge, and could host a show of up to 20,000. the stage was at the top of the hill and you had to stand/dance uphill. Tough on my old tired legs. The sound had some issues, Dan was working hard for quite a while to get it right. unfortunately, John's vocal on Viper was just not happening. Some crackling and low end distortion near the beginning as well.
About half-way through, John announced that in lieu of a set break, they would each take a shot at a solo acoustic song. That was a nice treat. During John's turn, I swear I could hear Dave harmonizing. Sure enough, he was singing from Eric's mic. The Loner>Ecstasy, WHEW! Sweney killed it! They never did go back into the Loner.
Great hangin' with Frankie, Matt and Jeff, Johnny, Amy H., Tyler and Laurie, Bill, Wild Bill, Russell, Nem, Bev, Jeff, Coleman, and the rest of the crazies. BTW, I got stuck with driving chores back after the show! BTW, work today absolutely sucks!!!!!
Dinner tonight was a couple of slices of some local pizza. Very tasty indeed! I did hit a Brownie Blaster Blizzard at Dairy Queen on the ride over to the show.
Enjoy show # 137 of 2009! |
