-- THE SHACK PROJECT --
This is an effort to seed all existing MMW shows, and yes, preserving the original SHN/FLAC filesets. The seeding will proceed chronologically for the most part, with exceptions as we feel the vibe to seed other gigs from other times.

Thanks to MMW for allowing their music to be recorded....really, thank you.

Huge thanks goes out to the tapers, without whom this wouldn't be possible...and those that have helped get the tunes to our ears.

And thanks to the other 4 guys I've dragged into this and who seem committed to the cause: Louie, Mike Tom & Todd....we're all listening to these shows and hopefully circulating the best versions.

All shows listed here in SHN/FLAC will be seeded:
http://db.etree.org/duggy/mmw

These shows will be seeded as well, either by me or by one of a few other kind souls:
http://db.etree.org/duggy/mmwaccess

Shows listed here circulate in some manner. We are looking for as close to the original source as we can get so if you can help out with any of the following, we'd all appreciate it:
http://db.etree.org/duggy/mmwneeds (this list is in the process of being compiled...maybe forever?)

I've started a thread over here for us to be able to discuss this project:

The venue for this show was the John Van Duzer Theatre. The original source of this recording is sbd>DATM (DA-P1)>DATC (R500). I remember who I gave the only DAT clone of this recording to but not sure where it went from there.

Thanks, i was at this show and remember it being one of the better MMW shows i had seen up to that point, especially in the Van Snoozer. Thanks Dan for tapeing and sharing these killler local shows. Now if you could only get the LOS St. Fatty's Day at the Mateel from Mike Ryan i would be stoked.

Its nice to see some Arcata shows starting to show up on etree. Not so long ago I grabbed the acoustic gov't mule show from cafe tomo, which was undoubtedly the best govt mule show I have ever seen, and I would say was probably one of the top tfive shows i saw at Cafe Tomo (or Brew and Beats or Mazzotti's for that fact of the matter.) Surprised there aren't more Arcata related shows, particularly when rhythmic productions was bringing in the ringers, and Bela and Maaceo were playing the the arcata theater, and cafe tomo had at least two legit shows a week. Those were the days when music was plentiful up here, nice to be the halfway point from S.F. to Portland for sure.

Govt Mule at the van duzen Sept 14 should hopefully rival the black uhuru pufffest, as that place is usually a little high strung.

Keep bringing on those Humboldt soundboards, the patches have always been pretty accessible to the shows so the material should be plentiful.

This was a fantastic show brought to us by the good people at Humboldt State. Being my first MMW show, I didn't know exactly what to expect. I had only heard some tapes of earlier shows and a couple of CD's and I was a little surprised when we entered the theater and their was a simple setup of grand piano, double bass and trap set/percussion station waiting on the darkened stage. I was pleasantly surprised when they came out and started up with a lovely improvisation. I distinctly remember thinking around the end of Note Bleu that Medeski had a very definite Cecil Taylor-ish kind of vibe at times. Yowzers!!!! Truly spectacular and totally unexpected...

Saw quite a few west coast shows over the next five years. Two unbelievable acoustic sets at Yoshi's in Oakland were probably my personal highlights. I remember there being a number of tapers there, but I was the only one using a tiny stereo mic taped to the lip of the stage... I'm sure the recording quality is superb on most other sources. My tapes were the only ones to capture the final melodica / bass / cuíca jam truly up close though. I'll see about getting a fresh transfer off those DATs and then seeding them here sometime soon.

havin trouble with shn files for some reason, any chance of FLAC's?
Arcata had some great shows around this time, your exactly right, between the the van duzen, arcata theater and tomo we had a few good shows a week it seemed like

Lots of shows in Arcata back then because Lincoln Wachtel was busting his ass to draw bookings.

yeah and i caught the tooth fairy stealing money from under my pillow last night. when i called him out on it, he had Santa Claus come in and rough me up good.

Justin was getting shows from his parents who booked gigs in the bay area to come and play Arcata well before cafe tomo.

Hey, I'm wondering if anyone would be able to help a brother out and seed this show for a day or so?

Thanks in advance...
