yeah this is a classic. One of the first boots I got on cassette along with the Portland show from May '74 and Ithaca '77. This was a favorite, and has been in my cd collection a long time too.
Dig Pigpen going off in the last part of Lovelight: "You can make it, if you try...yeah you can make it if you try!" |

This looks great! Thank a ton, such a good time. It's going to be hot around town this weekend, i'm saving this for the drive to the beach. Thanks.

Yeah this one's a true classic, one of the better shows from Summer 69. I always liked the Doin That Rag>He Was...and the Dark Star is a great one. Shorter than what you would expect from a 69, but packed full of some inspired playing (there is a moment just a minute or so in where Garcia lays down this little run that always gets me). And yes, The Eleven is pretty hot on this one too. Fun Dire Wolf that almost goes into Chinacat, but they pull back.
Over the years I obtained a couple different sources for this one, and they all seemed to run at different speeds (most slow). I can't recall if I have this specific source or not (though I most likely do), so I'm downloading it anyway and am anxious to hear how well the pitch shift worked. |

| stupid question: are these early and late shows? while this is quite the treat, agreed, i find it odd to open and close with the same #. thanks for this, not complaining--more lovelight, the better, i reckon. i'm gonna turn mine on here in about 8 hours. |

| A good question. The 3 part "Lovelight" sandwich is all from one show - no mistake. The Dead opened with it at the start of the show, later returning to it again in a nice seque from St Stephen>The Eleven and then again for the third time as the finale of the show after Drums. Enjoy! |
