Are these real segways? I would love to hear a jam set.
cbd 2009-08-01 14:07:16
eh, most are more like they fade ins, Drowned>CEP is really great. Fluff>Piper is more like trey just started playing piper without stopping
orechall 2009-08-01 15:43:41

Any chance we'll see this source for the first night?

Thanks
cbd 2009-08-02 15:37:03

'nope, I could only do 3 nights and chose Sun over thurs ... about to find out if that was a mistake'

Considering Bill Kreutzmann is sitting in with them as I type this, I am assuming you will be happy with your decision...

Many Thanks!!!!

Thanks, mink! Can't wait to dive back into this second set.
greenbrier62 2009-08-04 20:53:19
IMHO This source is a little more clearer than the MK22 source; as well as more full and well rounded...

Without question.

For those of you who found the first set unlistenable due to the severe wind noise, rest assured the wind is GONE for the second set and it sounds amazing.

I was doing some intense A/B comparisons among the available sources for this show, and I was super bummed that this B&K's source had by far the worst wind because otherwise it has such a nice warm low end - Mike sounds incredibly JUICY in this source.

However I just got through Drowned>CP, Joy and Tweezer and it sounds sooooo nice. Mike is just stright-up liquid nasty in this source, while sounding a bit muted and flat in the mk22 by comparison.

So personally if I were to burn these onto disc or make a playlist or whatevs, I would use the mk22 source for the first set/disc (which also sounds quite nice but is lacking in the low end) and use this B&K's source for the rest...unless something even better gets upped. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks to all the tapers, we are spoiled!

@ Digs: thanks for those comments. Davis's B&K of 8/1 and 8/2 are by far the THICKEST Mike out there and the best your going to get without a Matrix. Great clarity of Trey and MIKE overall to these mics; mk22 and mk4v versions don't compare. Maybe someone wants to matrix these with Lutch's mk4V's for total audience and create a dominant hybrid :)
digs5446 2009-08-07 13:39:37
@ bgiiys: agreed.

Apologies in advance if I missed this in other setlist notes (phish.net, maybe?), but is that not a total Dave's Energy Guide at the end of Fluff, right before the track ends? I guess it would be too short to qualify for it's own track listing, but certainly an "*" deserving tease in the footnotes, right? or am i just hearing something that's not there?
digs5446 2009-08-07 15:23:36
yup, Phish.net mentions it as a "possible" Dave's Energy Guide tease. guess i shoulda checked that prior to posing the question...oh well, hopefully someone will check it out because of it.
