Thank you zman. For those who missed this, it was a free show.
I believe Hookah is one of the only original acts at Rockin' on the River. Most of the bands that come through are cover bands.
One of the local radio stations had them promo'ed as a GD cover band...way to do your homework WKNR.

Here is last night's Ekoostik Hookah show from Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. After work, I
hauled across I-80 east. As I drove down 8 South, I hit an assload of traffic as
there had to be a show at Blossom. Oh how I dread going to shows there as they still
have not figured out how to get traffic into that venue! I found my way onto 2nd
street and into a parking garage. I wndered down to the riverfront, following the
music of the opening band. There were A LOT of folks gathered there. I was amazed,
perhaps 5,000 people?
Never been here. There was a stage with a pit area of about 15-20'. After that, there
were 5 rows of seats wrapped around the front as a small amphitheatre. I started to
set up next to the board where Red Dawg and another taper were. On the other side of
the board was Jackero and James setting up their rigs. I knew this was not where I
wanted to be. I started to do my "seat vulture" routine. As soon as the opener was
done, I saw a couple get up and leave in the 5th row, a perfect vantage and sound
spot for me. I grabbed the seats for Kiel and myself. Nice!
The local radio station DJ, introduced the boys and they commenced with John singing
Washboard Annie. One of my newer favorites of Dave's Serpentine was next. The crowd
had filled in the entire pit and all the aisles were jammed packed. I really did not
see how crowded it was till I had to hit the Portajohn. I really could not believe it!
One of the best attended Hookah shows in recent memory. The boys kept jamming and
before you knew it, we had ourselves a 92 minute first set!
They came out for the second set after less than a 30 minute break. most of the folks
were still in attendance. Great exposure for EH, as many of these folks were not
familiar with the band. Dave had told me that EH was the first band that was not a
tribute band in this free Friday night series. Bad Platypus kicked off the set,
followed by a couple of mellower tunes. Loner was the crowd favorite as always,
followed by So They Say and then my surprise, Low Spark! They closed the set with
Ecstasy. unfortunately, Sweney's rig went out before the jam and his solo. Dan and
the sound crew rushed to fix it, but it was TOAST. Finally, Mullins gestured to plug
Steve into his amp. Nice save John as Sweney kicked the end of the song!
Nice hangin' with Kiel, Sam and Sean, Red Dawg, Beverly, Amy, James, Jackero, Liz and
her daughter Cassidy, Jake, and of course the Band! Happy 12th Birthday cassidy!
Dinner afterwards, was a Grilled Sausage Sandwich with a mountain of Onions and
Peppers! As I said goodbye to all, I was one of the last people there and my dinner
was 1/2 price!
