OK This was an amazing show. Why Herring didn't play like this with The Dead is beyond me.. The sound was very good. Location left of center so slight bit of Phasing but not to bad..
Again.. Thanks so much to John Jay, Buddah and Joe Beacon for watching the stand and rig.. I had VIP passes with no seat and the guards were assholes about letting me get to the rig.. Thanks to them for starting and stopping the deck |

Thanks! I think these might be the first negative comments regarding venue security on this tour. Is this just a Jones Beach phenomenon? Never been there.
Hoping things are lax in Chicago as my "seats" are practically in Indiana. |

RE: Jones Beach Security - True, the security there in the past had a prison yard mentality, this is why this was the only show I attended at this venue this year. However, I found the security at this show to be practically non-existant. Read a post I made here -

Thanks for the recording and the upload!

Thank you. "Insecurity" everywhere are stupid. I almost hit one in Atlanta at a WSP show when he came barging through and about knocking me down to hassle some guy in front of me not wearing a shirt.

| Thanks for the upload. I thought Panic was great. They did outshine the Allman Brothers in my opinion. |

you are welcome... I am a big ABB fan.. But WSP smoked them that night. IMHO. I have seen eh brothers a load of times at the beach and every time its not great.. Everywhere else they Kill! if anybody knows why let me know..
When Warren came out to play with WSP he traded leads with Jimmy Herring. Herring just walked away with it.. It was almost like Warren was wasted ;-)

| is is because you cant buy liquor at Jones Beach, which usually fuels the fans which then fuels the band?? |

thanks Adam!
So R U now a Panic fan? I'm sure after this tour there will be many new wsp fans.
As for playing like that w/ the Dea, I think that Jimmy's longtime connection w/ the Panic boys plays a big role in it all. Plus he does not have to try to sound like Jerry - he can sound like Jimmy ...
How'd the ABB set come out?
Who opened this night?
boohoo, no GA nor FL shows : (~ |

Yes I am now a WSP fan.. They are great... Very Jammy and trippy. Liked them a lot.
I don't think Herring was trying to sound like Jerry at all with the dead. I just think he didn't cut loose.
WSP opens every night.. The sound for the abb was not as good. The recording came out very good.. but as good as the sound could be upfront. Slim, ABB Sound man, had a bare of a time re doing the sound back in after the early sound check.. Humidity had flipped totally and the wind had switched 180 degree.. All the eq points they had done to set sound had to be re-done. Now hte funny story...
Slim was frantic trying to get things re set .. during the 3rd song some guy from 1st row comes back to the SBD area walks in un-checked walks around the board and taps Slim on the shoulder and says that the sound sucks up in first row and he needs to fix it.. Now slim is like the quiet guy.. nicest guy you'll meet.. He turns to one of the ABB people and says.. Get him the fuck out of here... They escorted him out.. Slim told them He never wants to see him in there again...
The funny part is that sound at first row is not the sound of the house its the sound off the stage and it won't sound as good as you don't get great vocals way upfront..

| Thanks allot for this! This was my first time catching WSP and I thoroughly enjoyed their set. Jimmy was great in this format. I had no problems with the ABB set either though. Nice to see members from each band jamming on the others sets. I thought Derek really elevated Panic to a higher level! http://darkstarjamblog.blogspot.com |

I agree Derek was great with WSP... I just think the ABB set was lackluster in comparison to every ABB show I have seen in the past 4 years except those played at Jones Beach LOL
