This was the beginning of the legendary Spring 90 run.

Some of my favorite Brent-era GD.

RE: "Some of my favorite Brent-era GD"

Are you a Brent fan (I mean Garcia's an OK guitar player, but Brent? He's the John Coltrane of instrumentalists... seriously). I mean, some nights Garcia could play his way out of a wet paper bag, we all know that...

...and if you were thinking to yourself, "Yeah, that's true..." Piss off, mate! Garcia made the world go round... GD were ABSOLUTELY his band (and everyone else's), but without Gar, no matter what, no way, no how, is there EVAH going to be another "Grateful Dead". Sheesh... Talk about a feather in the wind of opinion, sure Garcia was no saint, and sometimes he struggled, but THAT'S LIFE, and LIFE is what the DEAD were all about! In all its majesty, tragedy, triumph, glory, pain, and sorrow... kicks, even. No, I'm not Britsh or Oz-y, but I didn't want to use the F word... and now I do, just to be perverse, but I'll refrain. . . OK, I refrained.

Look, does this have some KILLER BRENT or wot? Eh? Ya got fookin' sand in yer ears, mate? But, yeah, Garcia sucked... F-U!!!!!!!! OK? Better now? Garcia gave us the whole package, the weed and the seed... the bud and the mud... the stuff and the duff... the tough and the fluff... the rough and the muff (not sure about that one, never known Garcia to be "rough", except perhaps round the edges... BLACK STAINED FINGERS AND... what is that, dandruff on your shirt? Hey, I'll snort it, bet it's pretty good "dandruff", right? Then, the guy goes to like, lick Garcia's boot, or kiss his feet or something, and Garcia "accidentally" (no really) steps on the guy's hand down on the pavement between his steel-toed motorcycle boot and the hard, hot, pavement, that's right, buddy, meet the sidewalk! Shake hands with the cement... Ah, yeah, thanks... I'll leave a turd in the toilet you can sign "From me to you!" Signed, Jerry's a-hole... OK, if you apologize, I'm willing, jsut this once, to let it go... in a bucket.

GARCIA! THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES, MAN! YOU NAILED IT!!! ..and Bremt, you too! Sorry, Jerry casts a very large shadow!!!

Great Brent here, mate? Call me a fookin' limey again and I'll have a go at ya, right? You ready, mate? I'm an MAERICAN! I was born in Hollister, CA!!! (nosh it, or no... it). Yes, home of "The Wild Ones"!!! Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital, 12:03 pm on 8/10/63... I'm a Native Northern Californian and have never lived anywhere further north than south of Chico, further west than the Bay Area, or further south than... Hollister! East? Well, probably the Sacramento suburbs... but I've digressed, again... I'm not havin' yer insurrection, mate, nor anything else you've got that ends with "-rection", got it?

Hey, 12-28-79 is fairly smpokin', bro. Thanks for this! Got Brent? Got rent? Got bent? I'm spent... thx.

That whole second set right to the end of Wharf Rat is fantastic.

Mellow China>Rider.

Brent gives an extra something to Little Light.

Est. has a great peaky moment of syncopation, and the ensuing jam is spacey and electric.

eyes is fast and precise, with Jerry swinging in the groove for his second solo.

drums is good. space is great! like going to some kind of movie.

Wheel>Gimme>Wharf is given that extra something, extra energy, dynamics, exploration.

Sugar Mags is good, although the jam cuts early. Sunshine Daydream is a weak cap.

Knockin' is a candidate for best ever, a personal fav.
