The John Hartford shows are "bottled up" at thespps.org site, as mentioned above. I have telephoned and written to John Hartford's "office" and explained to them very clearly. John's live music recordings are "already public" at the Steam Powered Preservation Society website. But people must be able to find this place and know how to FTP. I explained that since this was the case, a collection should be put on The Internet Archive or LMA, with the rest of the public live music collections. I told them I had plenty of personal experience with this. I offered my assistance to them. I even mentioned how people with i-Phones get could an app and stream these shows from The Archive. I never heard back. There are no derivative files (streaming, mp3, zip). The Flacs and lossless files are not tracked in CD format correctly, according to archival standards.
So instead I collected 15 "early years" shows from SPPS. I added one of my own recordings I taped of John, and made it 16 shows. I torrented the John Hartford Collection at eTree 6 months ago. It has been snatched over 650 times.

| Thanks for this seed... and dead-head_monte... super thanks for this incredible download. i used to get a lot of john's stuff off of bluegrassbox... also sometime difficult because of early ftp site. anyway, i know what i'm listening to for the next few weeks :) |
