okay I am having serious soundcard/playback issues and only getting pops
of sound for about 2 seconds at a time so making the setlist is hard.I
know it's not the recording as it plays back fine off the recording unit.
somebody from the shack project will be along shortly to fix it for you.
thanks!

Thanks!good seeing you too chaffe, email me your address and I will get that package out to you I mentioned.yeah not sure whats going on but my system is real slow with anything I do,wavelab,internet..and the playback is screwed up bad so I don't know.
my next project will be transferring old DAT masters of mine that were never heavily "circulated"due to my post production capabilities back then, maybe the project needs a couple. |

Thanks, again Mark! It's fantastic to hear these gigs!
And if you need to know anything that The Shack Project doesn't have and so haven't seeded, you can check Tom's history site:
http://mmwhistory.com
....he places a red/white TSP icon next to every show we torrent so you can know that not only does the source exist but it is in circulation.
Of course, alternate sources are super fun to hear too!
Now a question for ya:
I did kind of wonder when I noticed something in 9/18, and then your mentioning of having some playback issues is prompting me to ask:
Did you notice a small amount of static circa the 6min mark of d1t02 of 9/18?
I don't find it any big deal, but I don't know if it's just my file or not, and I'm only mentioning it now in case it is indicative of a larger problem you might be having on top of just playback ... and so I figure it can't hurt to mention it to see if it's just my file ...

I was about 10 feet from the stage during the first set of 9/18, and noticed some brief static coming from the PA for a minute or two. Thats probably what we're hearing on the recording... not the taper's fault.

Yeah, that makes sense to me ... as I said, it's hardly prevalent in the mix but I just wanted to ask for clarification, and that's what I got! Thanks!

Sweet. Many thanks for this.
Do you have a favorite of the shows you attended? Opinions are obviously subjective, but I enjoy hearing from those that get to a chance to see a few in a row. |

charlotte and asheville were both very good I thought, both nights the onstage banter was great you could tell they were digging the vibe in those rooms.
charlotte squeezes out asheville by a hair if only for the fact the crowd was a little more focused on the show at the neighborhood. |

I saw four of these shows, and all of them were simply amazing at times. Based more on personal experience than performance quality, I'm leaning toward Atlanta as the best show. Performance-wise, I can't compare just yet. The recordings of Atlanta, Charlotte and Asheville sound fantastic, and I will be re-living the shows and comparing performances for a while. (If anyone has a tape of Knoxville, I'd like to include that in the comparison. Thanks in advance.) Anyhoo, what I'm trying to say is: these boys still got it! Its been thirteen years since my first MMW show, and I still haven't had enough. Long live John, Billy and Chris.

| I only saw one show this tour (Bridgeport) which I thought was sick. But I think I like the Charlotte show the best. All the recordings are fantastic. Here's a question to those who've seen some of the other shows: The Klein show was intensely loud at times especially during the second set. I've seen these guys many times over the years and I don't think they've ever been that loud. As another poster said, you could literally feel every note. Have all their shows been cranked up this tour? |
| newplanet7 |
2009-09-26 20:35:41 |
ez,
That was easily the loudest MMW show
I've been in attendance for. It was blisteringly loud.
To be honest I thought my tape was going to be crap
before I transferred it.
Also right you are that all the tapes smoke from this tour.
