The Roxy, Los Angeles CA
ORTF DPA-4023 > Lunatec V2 > Benchmark AD2K+ @ 24/96
normalized, sr converted with Secret Rabbit Code 0.1.1, and dithered with tpdf
My homebrew HD recorder crapped out this night and wouldn't restart. There was a minidisc patched out of the V2. He got the entire 1st set but his batteries crapped out about 10 minutes into the second set. The minidisc source still hasn't surfaced and I can't sit on this any longer. I faded in the intro music, which MMW starts jamming to before the curtain opens. I did not fade out where the music cuts.
Thanks to Dr. R0denstein for letting me use his phatty B&Ks and Benchmark!
This was the last show of the west coast tour and the last for sound engineer Sean "Murr" Murray.

-- THE SHACK PROJECT --
This is an effort to seed all existing MMW shows, and yes, preserving the original SHN/FLAC filesets. The seeding will proceed chronologically for the most part, with exceptions as we feel the vibe to seed other gigs from other times.
Thanks to MMW for allowing their music to be recorded....really, thank you.
Huge thanks goes out to the tapers, without whom this wouldn't be possible...and those that have helped get the tunes to our ears.
And thanks to the other 5 guys I've dragged into this and who seem committed to the cause: Louie, Mike Tom, Todd & Jeff....we're all listening to these shows and hopefully circulating the best versions.
All shows listed here in SHN/FLAC will be seeded:
http://db.etree.org/duggy/mmw
These shows will be seeded as well, either by me or by one of a few other kind souls:
http://db.etree.org/duggy/mmwaccess
Shows listed here circulate in some manner. We are looking for as close to the original source as we can get so if you can help out with any of the following, we'd all appreciate it:
http://db.etree.org/duggy/mmwneeds (this list is in the process of being compiled...maybe forever?)
I've started a thread over here for us to be able to discuss this project:

This run is all improvisation, aside from the Encores for each show which all come from the then yet-to-be released EOTWP(jic). So we are looking at HOURS of improv here and the band doesn't let-up! The music created over this run of shows is simply mind-boggling ... they borrow motifs and grooves at times, but they are always pushing the music into new places ... I listen to these shows ALL THE TIME and never tire of listening.
I also boiled the more groovier/song-like sections into a 5 disc set a few years ago and circulated it ... maybe I'll post that collection after I seed the run. Here's a link to the collection's source entry and info if you're interested:

Enjoy these shows ... ain't nothing else like 'em! |
