Here is last night's Railroad Earth show from the Beachland Ballroom in Cleveland, Ohio. I had this on my radar for about 5 days. Just off a 3 night Mule run with very little sleep, lots of travel, and work, I thought for a moment about leaving work and chilling for a change. After a 5 second thought process, I came to my senses and made the 2+ hour drive. I spoke with Mike P, the awesome sound engineer for these guys yesterday and told him I would be there. I stopped by Mark's to drop off a couple of things and off to the Beachland. I got there at 7:55 for the 8:00 show. I stepped out back for a safety break and to say hey to Vince Herman as Great American Taxi was opening! Yes! I set up FOB next to Todd from the area.
After a very entertaining set from Vince and the boys, RRE took the stage. I remember seeing them here on my 50th birthday a few years back! Elko was a beautiful opener. Turns out we were getting a 2 set show. Everything in the first set was solid. My 2nd favorite song, Colorado was in there. It is a very upbeat and happy song. I really dug the 1759 as well. It was a nice set just over an hour. We went outside for a safety break.
The 2nd set was also a keeper! Any Road opener got everyone in the groove. Lots of Cuckoo tonight. Sorry about the 2 tracks for the Cuckoo's Medley. Magic Foot>Luxury Liner has always been a sweet combo. It was seamless tonight. The Molly>Dandelion was also a swinger! A mellow RRE encore and we were done. Stayed and chatted with Tim Carbone. The 2 subjects that always come up are Greensky Bluegrass and David Bromberg. Tonight's new topic was the Ragbids. Tim Produced their latest CD. He certainly has his irons in the fire, as he also just did Great American Taxi's newest effort. Got to say goodbye to Vince and crew! Went over to Mark's and started to transfer and track out until I was falling asleep.
Nice to hang with Chad, Jim, and Vince from Taxi, Tim, Johnny, and Mike from RRE, Todd, Melissa, Allie and Sarah!
Dinner tonight was a $5.00 Subway Tunafish Sandwich.
