Here is last night's Black Crowes show from Grand Rapids. Saw this during the day yesterday as I was thinking of doing a local show in Toledo. I spoke with Russ, a Panic/Truckers/Crowes buddy that lives in GR. He had a ticket with my name on it. Oh, the peer pressure. I decided at 4:30 that I would leave work and make the truck up to GR. Russ also offered me a bed to sleep in at his house, that sealed the deal as there was no way in hell I would be in any shape to drive back. I got to the lot at about 7:10 for the 7:30m start time. I had never been to the Orbit Room. This place was a theatre at one time, and all the seats were removed and the floor leveled. I set up just in front of the board. Scooby, the Crowes Sound Engineer was cool with me putting my gear inside the cage and in front of the board! The balcony was never opened and by the time the Crowes came on, the floor was packed! It turned out to be the move of the night where I set up!
After a 45 minute set b Truth & Salvage Company, the boys hit the stage. I have seen them a few times since Luthor has joined forces with them. He is now totally comfortable and takes all kinds of leads. What an awesome addition for the Crowes! Good Morning Captain kicked off the set. Another Roadside Tragedy was nice to hear, I don't think this gets a lot of play in their rotation. Appaloosa is a very nice, mellow tune. Move It On Down The Line is always great to hear. The meat came near the end of the set. We were treated to lots of "old school" Black Crowes such as Sometimes Salvation>Wiser Time, Jealous Again. The encore was stellar, She Talks To Angels and Everybody Knows This is Nowhere (my 2nd in a row as they pulled it our in Birmingham). Out the door and over to Russ's to upload it as we watched the replay of the Red Wings game.
Karoda on lights is always a plus. Tonight was child's play for him after the 3 day festival he treated everyone with over the past weekend.
Great to hand with Russ, Chris K., and Scoobie!

| This was a great show. Thanks for sharing it. I saw there were only two mic sets taping the show and I almost went back to ask if the show was going to be posted somewhere but I never made it because I didn't want to lose my place in front of Luther. :) I'm thrilled to find it here. The Orbit Room is always a fun venue. I've seen a few shows there including Phish in '93. This Black Crowes show is a great addition. Thanks again for taping and sharing. |

| I love Zman tapes. You know you can believe a Zman review, food and otherwise he knows his stuff. Thanks for all your hard work, a labor of love to be sure. They should have a taper of the year award somewhere. |
