I am after 2 nights with 2 hours of sleep. I will write a quick review including food after I get up in a few hours. Sorry for the delay, but I went and taped Jerry, hit the Gold Medal for Chinese takeout, came back and worked on this bitch. Slow internet so this will take 12 hours.

Here is tonight's Widespread Panic show from the Fabulous Fox in Oakland. Round II and we were still pumped from last night's suare. Part of my desire to see these shows, was the Fox itself! What a magnificent theatre! They really did a fantastic job on the renovation! So ornate and classy! I entered as soon as doors were opened. I had few discussions about where the taper section was located and what we might want to do. I listened to my recording from night one and I was quite satisfied with the results. I asked both Hardy and Horace what their thoughts were since they actually downloaded the show and gave it a very good listen. They both agreed with my assessment and that was good enough for me. As my Daddy said, if it ain't broken, don't fix it. So, I headed back to the same spot for this evening. I grabbed some rail space next to the section for John and E-Girl. By 7:30, our posse was ready to rock and roll.
The boys hit the stage and started up the show just before 8:10. Junior>Solid Rock was the ticket. Happy wound down into the familiar groove of Goin' Out West. I just happened to have my K. Martin "Olds 88" tour shirt on for good measure. Next up was Big Woolly. I remember a time where I was burned out hearing this as it was played every 3rd night. Not so anymore. Tonight was probably the least amount of lighters heaved towards the stage, maybe 5-6. Being early in the show, and the fact that this venue is a smokers paradise may have had an effect on folks wanting to hang onto their "torches". Pigeons seemed a bit off in the beginning. I remember reading that a few people were very happy to have heard Crazy the other night. Never been a favorite, but this may be the best played version I can remember. Walkin' complete with the "stop" in the middle, eventually led to Don't Be Denied. Neil songs always get to the crowd, especially out west, near his domicile. Enter Jerry Joseph. We heard the main 3 of his songs that the boys cover. We were thinkin' either Light is Like H2O, or road to Damascus. We were treated to the first. Either one would be great for me, and this version was sweet!
After a short setbreak, we were ready for whatever they were going to throw our way. A TYS opener, well I was not expecting this nugget right out the gate. Leading into a very welcomed Blight, even better. Time for a nugget and we got our first JKMB in over 3 years, also the first for Mr. Herring. This one did include a dabble into Night People Rap for good measure. The next 2 seemed misplaced in the middle of a second set, but no problem for us. A Slow Porch Song rambled into a daily double of Arlene>Red Hot Mama. The entire audience was stoked! Love Tractor finished off the 91 minute set. So hear we had two 91 minute sets, or 3 hours of solid tunage. The encores on this tour have been very solid as we watched JB strap on his Mando. ALG was just played a couple of shows ago, so we were ready and waiting for the Bloodkin nugget of End Of The Show. Delivered and picked clean. JB sounded very solid not only on vocals, but on the mando!
It was time to breakdown in a hurray and get our collective asses over to the Metro Opera House for the Jerry Joseph show. Great to hang with John and Erica, Lil, Larry, Hardy, Horace, Shorty, Amy, Tim and Misha, Ryan, Adam and Carly, Matt, Julian, The Frank Kossen, Teddy and Amy, Jay and Moon, Mackenzie and Tom, Carison, Kevin H (promoter for the Jerry show), Jeff, Gretchen, Susie, Heather, Andrea, Justin, Mark and his wife from ATL, and all the other FOB freaks! Happy Birthday Scotty and Kathy N!
Early breakfast was leftover Shrimp Rice Noodle, a Baked Pork Bun, and Pork Siu Mai from Good Luck Dim Sum.
Late morning Breakfast was an Everything Bagel with Lox, Cream Cheese, and Sliced Tomato from Berkeley Bagel. And then, a Carmelita Bar for dessert! Wow!
Late Lunch consisted of some killer Sushi from Nanayiro in Berkeley. Some Miso Soup, Hamachi Roll, Spicy Tuna Rolls, Red Dragon Roll, Spicy California Roll, Spider Roll, an order of Tempura, and a couple of other delights.
Late Dinner consisted of some Chinese Take Out from Gold Medal in Oakland's Chinatown, delivered to FOB by Larry and David around 2:00 am. Kung Pow Vegetables along with a spring Roll. Now that was service! It was delicious, just ask Amy!
