Here is tonight's Widespread Panic show from the Riverside Theatre in Milwaukee. It was the hat trick year, our 3rd year in a row of seeing the boys at this venue. Seems like sort of a tradition coming here. I can live with that! Dubba and I left Hubie's in Chicago arround 12:00 and headed north on I-94. After crossing the Wisconsin border and passing Bong Recreation Area, we hit our first goal, the Mars Cheese Castle! After a nice lunch, we continued on and hit the Hyatt at about 3:00. We chilled out in the room and headed over to the venue to get our will call tickets. Then we hit the line with Bennett and Jacquee, Jim, and others. Once the doors opened, we situated ourselves in the 3rd row. I grabbed a bunch of seats in the 2nd and 3rd row as well. We set up the stand and everyone clamped on. A nice representation of folks in the sweet spot tonight.
The boys hit the stage and started up the show just before 8:10 with a Glory>Makes Sense To Me. After a rousing Pigeons, it was time to wish Todd Nance a Happy Birthday! You can make out all of us in the crowd singing as Sunny hugged Todd. Our Birthday Boy sang us Coach. After Stop Breakin' Down, Jojo led us through an 18 minute Ride Me High, probably my personal favorite of the 1st set. They jammed for over 6 minutes before Jojo began singing. Very intense. Holden>Tin Air closed out the 72 minute set. I took my Pee Break during Thin Air, so we chilled in our seats.
After only 33 minutes, the boys hit the stage and dropped a Shape I'm In on us. The intro threw me off, but it didn't take long to recognize this nugget! Walk On The Flood and TPOT were next, but the meat of the set was soon to come. I told Lil we were in for an airplane as she flew in and landed about an hour prior to the show. A killer Takeoff Jam fed into a smoking Papa's Home. Very nicely done. As they jammed out, it sounded like either Heaven, or City of Dreams. We got the former! But, the sammy was not complete and we get an Impossible dropped on us! This jammed out and led into the Drum segment. Dave joined the Drums and the ensuing jam led into the reprise of Papa's Home. After a Chainsaw City, the only thing left was the encore. An interesting combo of Pleas>Mr. Soul sent us out into the autumn night.
Great to hang with Dubba, Jim, Hubie, Chris, Mindy Lu, Lil, Mark and Terry, Roger, Ashlie, Jeff, Pat, and all the other FOB freaks!
Late Lunch was our stop at the Mars Cheese Castle. I enjoyed a Reuben on Pumpernickel, German Potato Salad, and a Butterscotch Root Beer. We ended up purchasing some Jalepeno Cheese Curds. That is what powered me to get this torrent finished!
Late night dinner WILL be some breakfast across the street at the 24 hour Diner!
Go 'Cuse, way to whip the Tar Heels! Happy Birthday Jacquee and Todd!
