| soundboards are absolutely terrible. Wish Phish would do something about that. it is pathetic. |

shame you couldn't have grabbed set I with this rig because i just did comparisons of every source for this show (as of now) and this sounds the best to my ears. just a tad clearer than the mk22 fob, which was runner-up for me, with the AKG 483 OTS pull coming in at a respectable third.
Thank you tapers! |

my theory on the current soundboards - i think the sound guy is mixing the band to sound best to the audience in the room, whereas before perhaps they were mixing the band in such a way that sounded best on headphones? if you have a huge echo-y room, making the mix sound overtly crisp and reverb-free will end up cancelling out the boominess of the room and will sound just right to the audience. but the soundboard will sound flat and too crisp with no body or room ambiance. makes sense to me, anyway...and is the main reason i have come back to loving AUDs. i thought the 2.0 boards were great, but i can't get into the current ones.
HOWEVER that free summer sampler they gave out at Indio sounds reeeeeally good to me. did they remaster those? |
