Tagging notes:
Show information is embedded within the header of each flac file.
It will display on any player capable of directly playing flac
files. If converted to wav during processing, all tags will be
stripped, however audio data will remain unaffected. If you must
transcode to a lossy format, do so directly Flac > Lossy.
Use ffp to validate audio integrity.
Md5 values will change if tagging is altered.

Germain. Again, thanks for putting the work into these. I am enjoying not having to do all this work. You're spoiling us.
1971 was such an interesting year as it morphed into a new band and a new era with some of the best songwriting and jamming in history. It only gets better with 1972 and then on to 1973/74 where things really take off.
I'm not sure but I think the date in the filename for this one is wrong.
Thanks again

| In terms of song writing 1971 was probably the bands most creative year. Approx. 33 new songs introduced, of which, over 20 became regulars in the rotation. |

The 71-12-05.100316 source was released after I finished putting together all the shows for this. I haven't gotten around to adding it to my collection.
I will be seeding gd71-12-01.76264. Maybe you are referring to the earlier Miller release 32304. Since 76264 is Charlie's fix of 32304, I saw no need to collect both. |

| This show used to circulate as Hollywood Bowl 6/17/72 (Pigpen's final show) for years. An actual recording of the Pigpen show does circualate, but not great sound quality. |

| I prefer late '71 to early '71 any day, the band lost something after Mickey, and Jerry was using Les Pauls, Specials, and such (though I have one of each myself), that gave his tone a more jagged and thick edge. It's "not so jerry". Jerry did well with Strats, SGs (which sound thinner and more high end than Les Pauls, Juniors, and Specials), the weird aluminum thing (can't remember the name), Wolf, and Tiger... I didn't like the sound he had in, I think late'67 and early '68 with that Les Paul Custom (with P-90s), though I'd LOVE to have one of the early Black Beauty model Les Pauls myself, it just didn't suit Jerry's sound, and I actually prefer souped up Teles (ala the Tele Jeff Beck gave Jimmy Page and he played it on the solo of "Stairway" and all the first album) and SGs for the same reason. I prefer a slighlty thinner (but not "thin"), more piercing, trebley axe, with a lot of attack, and preferably an ebony fretboard (sustain, tone, playability), which is what Tiger and most, if not all, his late era guitars had. If you've never played an ebony fretboard, YOU ARE MISSING OUT! Anyway, thanks, and cheers. |
