I'd like to thank D. Barfield and D. Lane for taping and sharing their masters. I'd like to thank Mike S. (popskull) for the D-5M loan. I talked to Dave B. about these 87 Greek Shows and he said that his mics were as high as he could get them, probably around 20'. I believe he said something about combining two mic stands to get the desired height. All of this was to avoid the way sound bounced around off the stone walls there. It Worked, These recordings Smoke. There was a problem w/ the left channel during "Terrapin St." which i corrected with SF8 and one at the begining of "Miracle" which i did not, Enjoy!!

grumpy_EX_deadhead 2009-12-19 18:11:46
Here's to being shut out of these shows!! I mail ordered in 87, 88 and '89....only ever got filled for '89 and then couldnt make it! Oh well saw a handful of JGB, Bobby and even a brent solo set there as well as Phil N Friends.

I always liked Frost better, but maybe that's because I never saw the REAL thing at the Greek.

This was my first of 4 Greek shows (lucky mail ordering, I guess...). The Greek was a magical place. I remember at one GD show (maybe this one), starting at the very rear on top of the hill, and dancing my way all the way to where I could touch the stage, all during one song. I always liked the 'decreasing radius' effect, with shows starting at 7PM Friday, then 5PM Saturday, then 3PM on Sunday; even though it did tend to cut into the 'recovery time' between shows. I remember staying home and listening to a Saturday show live on the radio one year. Thanks for the musical memories.
