|Thanks, looking forward to hearing this one!
|Grate show!!! I was hopin Z was rollin this one..Frampton Kicked some mighty ass with the Mule!!
|Frampton? Seriously? Nice.
Got the call from Rob before the show; said you guys had a prime spot.
Can't wait to hear it. You should make it out to Denver, that run is going to rawk!
|Here is last night's Gov't Mule show from the Taft Theatre in Cincinnati. I have seen the boys here on occasion. I saw Peter Frampton sit in a few years back as he lives here in Cincy. I picked up my ticket from Ken at the car dealership he works at. Then I proceeded into Kentucky as I crossed the river to go to the Holiday Inn to meet with Mark and Lou. Once there, I grabbed my gear and went upstairs. I noticed a shuttle and asked the front desk, it runs across the river every 20 minutes. So, I grabbed the 6:08 shuttle and met Kiel at 6:20. We went inside the lobby. The doors remained shut to the thr=eatre as they were soundchecking late. I saw on the closed circuit and said, there is Frampton! Nice.
Kiel and I settled into our seats in row R. Rob O was just behind us in row T. Mark and Lou settled into their Row J seats. We were ready to go when they hit the stage and opened up with Blindman. A few new ones in the beginning of the set. Danny played rhythm guitar on Steppin' Lightly. He was kind of dancing and playing air guitar a couple of times during the show, a bit weird IMO. Rockin' Horse>Thorazine was very interesting for me. I went down to row J to visit Lou and Mark. That is when we had "the case of mistaken identity" as Mark mentioned in his review. We were escorted to the back by security for a discussion. I ended up fighting for my freedom and was permitted to stay. Mark did not fare as well and was tossed into the frigid January night air. We texted each other and I told him to buy a ticket and go in a different door. It worked and he got to hang with us the rest of the set. Good thing because that is when Frampton came out for Feel Like Breakin' up Somebody's Home, and While My Guitar Gently Weeps. A guest is the catalyst Warren needs sometimes to get going. It worked tonight! Pete sang Gently Weeps and traded some nice licks with Warren.
After the break, Mule opened very mellow with NWB. Patchwork Quilt is always a welcome treat in my book. This version flowed into Time To Confess, and was great. At the end of Monkey Hill, you could almost hear She's So Heavy coming, not. A very nice Mule Sammy instead, that segued into Soulshine. A very short Forevermore encore as time was up. Back to the Holiday Inn Express as we were hungry and I was ready to process the show. The front desk was out of fresh-baked cookies, but, we managed to talk the night auditor into baking us some! When I went to get them, I grabbed the Pizza Menus for 3 places. Mark and Lou played the acoustic guitars as I tracked out the show.
Great hangin' with Lou, Mark from Kentucky, Ken, Kiel, Rob O, Willy Pie and Elizabeth, and the rest of the crazies!
Late night dinner at consisted of a couple of medium Pizzas, Sausage and Onion, and Pepperoni and Mushroom, along with a Kentucky Cheese Log (Cheesy Bread).
Enjoy show #23 of 2010!
|Here are the only 2 videos I took this night at the Mule....
"I Don't Need No Doctor" - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fGzlZZq5s18
"Feel Like Breaking Up Somebody's Home" - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cKgOmFHiovw
Sorry, no vide for WMGGW, I wanted to enjoy that one and take it all in.
|I did a review with a bunch of pictures from the evening. The review an pics can be found on my publication.
|Sweet Vids...Sweet hanging with Z & Mark in KY (for 1st 4 songs anyway...). Killer show!!! Will be jamming this one for awhile!!
I saw you get escorted to the lobby, then pleading your case with many security staff. I was in row v, aisle: just behind you.
The security staff treated an average age crowd of like 45 like a 3rd-grade cafeteria room being watched by teacher aides.
Spikedriver's at Skully's on the 13th. Maybe see you there if you go. Not sure yet cause DOS is playing Newport that night too.
|Make that DSO!
|Another fine recording. I looked for you at HOB but there were no tapers in the balcony for the Cleveland show. Were you there?
