|a similar project is already underway in a wholesale sense and you my want to look up Germain's work. I think all flac files should be tagged and makes the experience much richer. ( I hope you include universal m3u files for fast loading in all media players. ) So while the database folks Cringe rightfully so at another varied fileset circulating, i understand the desire completely.
|Is it true that tagged filesets cannot be retorrented?
|I of all people can appreciate the desire to circulate tagged shows. However, we walk a thin line because a tagged source is not fully compatible with the untagged source for torrentling purposes. The danger lies in having multiple tagged sources in circulation. In such a situation it becomes increasingly difficult for people to share and torrenting as we know will begin to break down.
You may notice that I am not circulating my tags on any source that was originally circulated with metadata. I think it of utmost importance that only one tagged source be in circulation. The primary reason I am doing full year projects is to establish an organized bulk of work that is tagged. If you and others begin to randomly seed tagged sources, it will make it difficult if not impossible for me to keep track of what sources already circulated with tags.
If you are serious about seeding tagged sources, please contact me at email@example.com. There is plenty of room for you to jump in, but it is vital that this effort be done in an organized fashion. Otherwise chaos will be the result.
|Oh no! Chaos! Better call control!
|You'd know it. Someone had to Get Smart. :-)
|Thanks for the gentle hints, folks.
|The efforts are much appreciated, and thanks to germain and all their works ob the flac tags project.
I am enjoying grabbing every bit of it.
|the project is huge and i think germain as he suggested could use a hand. this is good to see a positive result at etree comment wise. it's why i jumped in early , as sometime folks can get a bit mean and theres no need for it..
carry on :)
|first off thank you seeder and all involved. as someone who has been around etree since its inception this rarely happens, but could someone explain metadata?
|can Foobar convert from SHN straight to FLAC??? If so, I have been wasting time decoding SHNs to WAV, and then encoding the WAVs to FLAC...please advise!
|can anyone briefly explain what this all means to the lay folk...???
|Taking existing lossless shows and converting/changing them in anyway and then uploading the files again confuses people about which is the original, and compromises the integrity of all existing lossless copies currently in cirulation.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
I prefer .ape myself, but I'm not about to screw and confuse all the n00bs just to get it.
|does anyone (germain?) have an answer to my above question? do i need to install a certain plug-in for that?
I tried a stright SHN > FLAC conversion last night but it did not work.
|I guess some would argue that the absence of tags in a post-CD world would constitute "broke," so some people are "fix(ing)" it, eh? I love the concept and agree on working together to keep it an organized effort.
|there are lots of encoders/decoders to get between different lossless and lossy formats.
i use dbpoweramp to convert the tonrrented SHNs to FLAC.
