| Description | Shockra
Berklee College of Music
Boston MA
5/29/92
Source: SBD > Cass/x
Transfer: Taperwayne (taperwayne@gmail.com)
Thanks to Greg Peeler for loaning me his source tape!
1) Underground People
2) intro* >
3) Dimension Extension*
* with Phish
Notes: Okay, this was filler on another Shockra tape that was labeled simply Berkeley CA 5/29/92, with Phish.
I don't know it's origins, the exact venue, or if the date is even correct or not. It's possible, however that the date is correct because Phish would have already wrapped up their Spring 1992 tour by this point.
Any additional information is appreciated, if you have it.
Enjoy this for what it is!

This guy has this show and a few others with PHiSH. He doesn't list PHiSH being @ that show, but that may have been an oversight. At any rate, he seems confident in the lineage he has listed.
I hope someone sees this link and spends the $10+$2 (S&H) he has requested as a "donation" for each show you want. I would love to hear these, but I don't see myself shelling out the dough anytime soon.

"By February, A Picture of Nectar was ready for release and the band had commenced recording Crimes of The Mind with The Dude. On February 1st, the members of Phish joined Shockra for their show at K.D. Churchill's in Burlington. Mike was taking lessons in slap bass from Shockra's bassist Edwin around that time and the two bands were spending some time together with Shockra opening some classic Phish concerts in the Northeast in 1991. On the 1st, Phish took the stage with Shockra for their second set, performing Shockra staples like Tone Clone, Don't Let it Stop Ya and Underground People as well as some funky, syncopated jamming. This was the first of a number of live jams the bands played together through the years at Boston's Neptune House and later at Shockra club performances in 1992 and 1993."

| Dave - I have your 2/1/92 Shockra/Phish DATs. I don't think I have any of your other Shockra, though I'll have to doublecheck. |

I am wondering if this might actually be from the Berklee Performing Arts Center in Boston, where one or more of the Shockra guys went to music school. I know they did swings out to Colorado, but California? I'm not so sure.
Incidentally, "the guy" selling Shockra CD-Rs is their incredible bassist, Edwin Hurwitz!
Let's get some more Shockra up here!

dave,
i'd love to see some of your shockra tapes surface.
coincidentally, my first phish show was the hampton beach show when shockra opened - i remember going to the show more to see shockra. we bumped into you and john and some others at somebody's house walking around the beach before the show.
remember the old policy at the casino where they would try to keep people from standing/dancing. they had their hands full that night.

| yeah we all had to dance in the back corner,no dancing at your seat! I think my brother may have sa bunch of shockra dats as well.I remember me and Brian raiding Edwins dats pretty hard before he moved to Colorado. We did transfer about 7-8 analog masters a couple months ago.We 'll see what i can come up with, when i get home,in a week. |

Entirely possible. Again I have no clue about this little bit of material. Just wanted to get it out there. |

I always love seeing Shockra torrents pop up and certainly echo the "more please" chant!
Thanks for this little nug.
However, the song list is incorrect. I'm not sure how to label the 2nd number...but...something like this
1) Underground People
2) intro >
3) Dimension Extension
Edwin is the shit and certainly blew some minds when these guys made music. :-) He plays with GAT now, yes? |

Ok, based on the comments above, and a few emails that I have gotten, it looks like this is from the Berklee College of Music in Boston Ma (not Berkeley CA.) Also my song list was wrong.
I've edited the text file.
Any comments as to whether this material actually contains any members of Phish? It was also brought up that this could be 2/1/92 or 9/4/92, but both of these already circulate, and I think the material here is different. (but again, just speculation.) |

| Funny that show is listed as Vegas - GD played Sin City that night...but no Shockra guest, obviously. Great recording regardless. Thx! |
