I was really STOKED when I pulled up the gig calendar for Tokyo for the dates that I was going to be there (or should I say for this week, since I'm here now) and found that Galactic was here. The only downer was that I was also gonna see them the night before, but my flight got messed up so it ended up screwing me from getting here on time. Regardless, this show that I recorded kicked butt!
Unfortunately, they flew straight from here to Australia and I think they have a gig tomorrow night down under. Wish like hell I could see that tour! |

Wow! I haven't even finished the first track, and I can tell already that this show is on FIRE! Thanks so much for traveling, having fun, and having the right equipment! I could only dream of catching them in Japan. How did the Japanese like this funk? How big was the venue?

The Japanese crowd in attendance LOVED Galactic! Club Quattro is a nice venue in the heart of the Shibuya district of Tokyo...a real hotspot for young people...lots of energy and lights. I'm guessing the venue might hold 400 or so.
This show really was a good one...lots of great extended versions. A funky solo from Bobby Mac and a cool drum solo by Stanton during the encore where he took his snare off his kit and came to the front of the stage where several of the others met him so that he could 'play' their instruments...by that I mean that for example he drummed away on Jeff's guitar strings, a tambourine, a cowbell and whatever else they had up there (couldn't see everything Stanton was drumming on). During one solo, Corey made it out into the crowd and climbed on top of one of the bars. Corey even crowd surfed during 'From the Corner' and the Japanese were all over that!
