OTS at the first ever Phish show at the Knick was TOUGH. All seated, packed, and barely enough room for your own gear let alone patch decks. Don Wright was my first choice for a patch but i was front left of OTS and he was front right. He ran upwards of 7 or 8 D7s or more out of his P1 at every show, but not at this show unless you were seated next to him as the section was just too tight.
It was near showtime and thankfully my buddy Tony was in front of me a few rows front left of the OTS, so I grabbed a signal from him. He was already setup with his rig and I wasn't going to expect him to reroute everything on my account, so I took the analog patch, and to this day I have no regrets. Tony got a nice pull, and I circulated this show on Usenet a ton dat>analog back in the day to many a thankful head.
Enjoy.... |

Yes, D5 as in cassette. Tony is definitely an old school taper who has taped a ton of shows. Those decks were still reasonably common in 95.
And of course thanks to Jason for his fine work as always. |

Damn, Lenny sittin on some gold here.
Haven't heard Don Wrights name in a loong time. Wonder if he's still in New Hampshire.
Someone needs to get access to his tape library and start seeding.
Lenny, kinda funny that I met Don the next night in Portland. Small world. |

No doubt Ned. The Phish taping circles got real tight 95-98 ish.
Don was a legend back then. He did I think every show Cal Expo>NYE except maybe a few around the Texas leg. Everyone knew Don. I did 6 shows fall 95 and think I met him in Auburn Hills or Pitt Civic. Great guy. Haven't seen him since Polaris 98. Very generous guy. I want to say I personally saw maybe 15 D7's as like the record he had daisy chained out of his DAP1. Some great recordings that need to be tapped in to. |
