One of the great three-disc soundboards of the era. You get the sense it's going to be one
of those nights when Paul Barrere announces "Lordy be, we gonna lay some funk on thee" and
launches into a smoking Cajun Rage. At the time the band had just formed their own
record company, Hot Tomato Records. The first releases, Ripe Tomatoes and Raw Tomatoes,
are collections of live recordings from 1971-2001. For this tour they worked up some
songs included on the Tomatoes, featuring here Blue Jean Blues and The Fan (a.k.a. Wait Till
The Shit Hits The Fan) -- its first performance in at least 20 years. Ron Holloway gets in
a killer sax solo, and continues throughout, especially in the jazzy Dixie Chicken intro and
solo segments. Disc two is a nonstop 40 minutes plus Chicken smorgasbord, with Sam Clayton
singing a rare Texas Rose Café, and extended jams on Tennessee Jed and Tripe Face. Shaun
Murphy channels Janis Joplin on Dylan's Takes A Lot to Laugh. And drummer Richie Hayward
gets a rare lead vocal on Gimme a Stone. Sound is crystal clear. One of the very best of
many Feat shows available at archive.org.
