| Description | Joan Osborne joined The Dead on their 2003 tour, singing lead vocals on a lot
of the Grateful Dead tunes.
April last year the live music archive got the o.k. for hosting audience recording
of The Dead live performances.
The idea of a Joan Osborne Sings With The Dead Compilation grew out of listening
to the 2003 tour audience recordings at the live music archive - thanks to all
the tapers.
Skiddly Bop helped with the technical assistance turning the idea of a compilation
into reality - big thanks to Skiddly Bop for all the work.
Hope you enjoy this compilation !

Thanks for this great upload. I was wondering if I could ask all that might see this post to maybe re-upload a couple of shows that I have been wanting to get for such a long time now. In fact, I have been sitting on them both at LL for months now. Along with many reseed requests for them along with pleads in the shoutbox from time to time, the one guy that was seeding whne I first hopped on them has never returned and no one else has ever stepped up to help me out. I got better than 15% done on both before the seed left me. And, I know that a lot of other people would really like these also. Great quality here on these great Joan recording of her with her jamband days. So... if anyone can help out I would really appreciate it. Here are the infos I have downloaded from both of them --

| July 30, 2003, St. Pete Times Forum, Tampa. First day of school for teachers. We already have tickets, but a fellow math teacher calls and asks if I want her husband's tickets -- in a box, with great seats, beer and food! Dylan does a nice set, first Dead set is great (including "Night of a 1000 Stars"), Hunter has a nice set, and now things are smoking along. Great spacy set, and Mickey is singing "Only the Strange Remain!" Then they kick it into "Caution (Do Not Stop on the Tracks)," and Joan is doing Howlin' Wolf leading in. Then these two young ladies, maybe 24 or 25, announce that THIS IS THE FIRST CONCERT THEY'VE EVER BEEN TO! And then Joan sings about going down to see a gypsy woman, and Mickey is pounding on that "beam" during drums. What a surreal moment with those two girls! And Joan was spectacular! |

I was in the process of going though the seeds available on 5/19/10 and came across this one. IMHO the '03s totaly outshined the '04s just because of Joan. There is other reasons the '03s were better besides Joan.
Better guest artists. |

| I was at the two shows in Camden NJ that tour, and, while I could have done without the 'vamping' she did during Lovelight, I thought she did a terrific job! I absolutely loved her take on "Built to Last" the second night. All in all, two tremendous shows, and I still listen to them on a regular basis. |
