hansokolow's notes:
As with the previous night, these sources worked very well together, and the matrix was relatively easy to put together. I was at this show, one of the few Hornsby-era shows I caught, and I remember being very impressed with the new sound, and surprised by the setlist. A lot of people were predicting the second verse of Dark Star, no dice. But the C.C. Rider-> Train To Cry in the first set was just breathtaking. Kicked my ass. A hot and mysterious West L.A. Fadeaway also got the boat rocking. I figured we'd probably get a China-> Rider to start the second set and an Other One out of Drumz, the expected. I was not predicting three first set songs in the pre-drums segment and a rare (for me) China Doll. This show definitely stands out. Now somebody up that AUD from 8/16 so I can get to work on it!

matrix notes:
In general there are a lot of fuzzy bits and clicks on the DSBD. I fixed what I could, but it's kind of everywhere, and fortunately not too distracting.

There are some wind issues on the DAUD, mostly only noticeable between songs.

There is 1:33 of DAUD only before the DSBD kicks in.

There a few seconds of digital skipping on the DSBD in the tuning right before Hell In A Bucket that I cleaned up.

There's some split-second fuzz on the DSBD in C.C. Rider at 3:34.

There's a glitch on the DSBD in Deal at 1:53.

There are about 33 seconds of the crowd NFA chant missing from the DAUD.

Cool! Another great night from this run! Thanks!
hseamons 2010-05-24 15:25:59
Oh yeah, thanks again. That last matrix was killer.
jmoleton 2010-05-24 17:29:34
Haven't seen Tano on here in some time, so good to have you back! Love the matrix work....btw, there are new sbd sources for your past matrix material (i.e. 3/21/90, etc.). I'm not sure if they need updating since they sound good already, but just throwing it out there;)

Thanks again!

peacefulparker 2010-05-24 23:50:00
Thanks a bunch! the last one was very tasty! So strong! Peace
hansokolow 2010-05-24 23:54:27
Yes, jmoleton, I have been taking note of those new sources. Perhaps they will merit a redo at some point. I'm definitely grabbing all sources in case I need them. Anything from Spring '90 is always worth it.
dranoblueslick 2010-05-25 01:29:44
..thanks a lot. I was at that show, nice to have a matrix of it. !!
cavekelly 2010-05-25 06:38:59
I was at this run, and as I recall the funky second set was a result of the band not repeating any songs from this and the Cal Expo run the weekend before. I did tape the whole run also; NAK 300 CP-4/D-5 from the OTS. I'll try to find and get the Friday show up soon.
mattcraddock 2010-05-25 19:23:54
This Deal rocks. Hoping the overall levels are HIGHER than another (very much appreciated) recording I got of this show from etree several years ago.
;-)

thank you for this!
mattcraddock 2010-05-25 19:27:15
And if it even needs mentioning... it's another great one of the many good and several great spring, summer, and fall 1991 shows. Last period of the band that really was firing on all cylinders (to my ears, at least). I also saw the most shows of my six year run with them during this time period.

Thank you again for this, guys.

Doesn't it sound like Bruce is playing "The Rubber Band" at the beginning of the 2nd set ?
