- Set 2 outro includes the beginning of the "Different Strokes" theme played over the PA as a tribute to Gary Coleman who died earlier in the day
This was a really sweet show in many ways -- a unique pairing of my favorite bassist with Bill K, one of the only drummers who can play "loose" and "tight" at the same time, and a swampy guitar player/singer with tons of soul. Cool song selection combining Grateful Dead classics, New Orleans covers (George's territory), blues covers/sprirtuals/traditional numbers (Papa Mali's territory), and originals written by Robert Hunter specificially for this band. If you want to boil the whole thing down to one song to sample, just give a listen to Junco Partner, the encore -- you'll get the idea. Too bad they didn't do Papa Mali's rendition of Guilded Splinters -- that's one that never fails to impress!
Go see them when they come to your town! |

You're right about Papa's Guilded Splinters--it is amazing.
Thanks a lot for this one, a lot of friends were there and it looks like the band threw down. I hope George stays on as their bassist, although they've played some hot shows with others (Houser was awesome). |

Yeah I think that George is just on tour with them temporarily -- filling in for Reed Mathis whose primary gig is with Tea Leaf Green.
By the way, y'all should read this article about this band -- it was really interesting:

>>> Yeah I think that George is just on tour with them temporarily -- filling in for Reed Mathis whose primary gig is with Tea Leaf Green.
George told me at Wanee that they have asked him to become a permanent member of 7 Walkers, so I believe he will be the main bass player for these guys and others may fill in if he has other commitments. I do think Reed was supposed to be the full time Bassist but I am not sure what happened there. IMO George is a better fit anyway. (Reed is still great though!) |

| Wow that is pretty big news if George is going to be the permanent bassist! Reid is pretty great, but George is a legend, and he sings and brings his own huge repertoire of songs with him. |

Oh Hells YES!!! Thanks for this one Scott. Been lookin around for it ever since I got back to Harrisburg. Great, great show. And fantastic news about George, too! Man is on a platform all his own. He brings the sunshine!
Thanks again.
Namaste.
