Hey Wharfrat-- Thank you!
I'm especially happy to get this one because I went to the show and the next night too. Alpine Valley was a great place to see a show-- a nice venue, unbelievably cute girls, all of whom appeared to be around 18 years old (and this was before "Touch" hit the radio airwaves), and great weather, at least compared to Austin, Texas in the middle of the summer.
They seemed to have so many Dead shows in that area (e.g. Chicago) and I had so much fun, that shortly afterwards I decided to live in Wisconsin for a while. Well, Wisconsin did make a really strong first impression . . . . I hadn't been to California at that point . . . . . I am serious, and don't call me . . . impulsive.
Thanks also to Charlie Miller, something I've said on many occasions. I don't have a Lizard God to give you Charlie, but I've built a little shine "Deadicated" to you in my music collection. . . .
I hope I have the pleasure of buying you gentlemen a beer sometime.

Was at this show, agree, Alpine was always a great place to see a show. I think the shortest show is 4-3-86...

Understand! From 10-27-05 to 10-16-07 I didn't have a drink and probably have had less than 10 since that time. I don't even smoke very much anymore-- it's kind of weird to think about the days of riding the bus a couple of times a week, and, of course, the bus was invariably loaded with other add-ons to enjoy the ride yet more.
You undoubtedly remember HST's response when asked if he missed the 1960s: "No, but I do feel cheated out of all those acid flashbacks they promised us."
