As I look back at the many fine shows I witnessed/attended, I can't think of any that are better than the 2 shows the GD played this weekend 20 years ago. The pre-drums is stunning. Great post.

Wow, Thank you so much. Don't forget about Kesey, Babbs and the thunder machine during drums/space plus the debut of the "new" furthur bus that the smithsonian thought it was gonna get. The original was/is on Kesey's farm grown into the back field & he didn't want to cut down the trees to fish it out. The 24th will also leave a smokin' crater of your mind!

If you're bringing up the thunder machine, you've got to mention the end of Looks Like Rain. I was up close and it scared the shit out of me at the time.

i attended these 2 shows after 3 cal expo, 2 JGB at the warfield and 3 at shoreline but these were incredible - especially the first day. will always remember this show and how much fun we all had - with some folks who are no longer with us. little feat opened, incredible eyes, playin' reprise, morning dew - the entire show smoked from start to finish. one of the finest shows i ever saw.

Agreed on all the "I can't believe it's been 20 years"!! Keith was probably a touch older than most of os when we were seeing all these great '88-90 shows. It's AMAZING that we can just get online and check out all these shows from that era and before. I'm sure you all remember mailing cassettes all over the U.S... The Bloomington, IN post office folks knew me well back in the '91-92" range!
