Here is last night's Widespread Panic show from Danbury. I must say that I have never seen or recorded at this venue. My new job has had me in the northeast between New York City and Boston. Unfortunately, most everyday is a 12 -14 hour work day. The boys were in NYC at Radio City Thursday, and I was working a Newsday Corporate event on Long Island, only about 45 miles away. A funny thing happened though. My boss and I got back to the hotel with another supervisor and said let's grab a beer. I was whipped and said wtf. We get in the car and he says, screw it. Let's go into the city and grab a few cold ones and some food. He says let's go to upper west side, I will take you to Nick's. I said you mean Big Nick's Pizza and Burgers? We get there, grab some Heineken's and order a bunch of food. Who walks in, Jimmy Herring 2 tables away. We saw each other at the same time and we both stood up and smiled. I went over and we hugged. He asked how I was and I had to tell him I was stuck working and missed the show! We chatted quick as I had food getting cold and he was with a couple of buddies. Same thing happened at 4:00 am in 2006 after his first show with Panic at RCMH! I thought I stepped into a time capsule!
I am flying home today, so my plan was to grab Lynchie's extra and see one northeast show for old time's sake. I worked half the day and headed up to Danbury. I had a place to crash in Danbury at a house, or so I thought until that got pulled out from under me after the show. I was told by Ted about the good chance of rain, and the seats are uncovered. Not about to "let that rain on my parade". Missing Diner and Arlene the other night hurt, I won't lie. Lynchie did say the show was not great as they played a bit sluggish at times. It did rain a good bit on the ride up from NYC.
The boys hit the stage just about 7:45. They opened up with a nice Rock, which flowed into Shut Up and Drive and then 1 x 1. As the set got going, it began to rain steadily. Not a downpour thank God, but steady for about 30 minutes or so. This place is quite small. I t has seats for maybe 1,500? The lawn behind the reserved seats could fit maybe 2,500. Because of the size of the venue, Panic was able to use much less equipment, both lights and sound. Let's Get Down To Biz in the middle of the set was sweet. Dave played a pronounced bass riff, almost like Hold Your Head Up out of Rebirtha that segued seamlessly into Fixin' To Die. The Last Straw>Fishwater ended the set very nicely.
The second set opened with a Spacey Jam into Legba. Then Give, oy vay. Dirty Side was nice. The Wrangler>Wonderin' was also seamless. I did not have to call Lynchie for his Wrangler taste as he was right next to me all night! Then, I got another of my least favorites, Don't Wanna Lose You. Time to finish my General Tso's Chicken (Extra Spicey), Pork Fried Rice, and Egg Roll. In the dark I managed to swallow a couple of Dried Chili Peppers and was sweating hard! Use Me was a nice way to leave DWLY. They actually stopped and took about a 25 second pause and restarted it ala Walkin'. First time I have seen that done. ATL>TYS>Climb ended the short 74 minute set. Weird song selection that seemed out of place at times. I thought the songs were well played but the flow.....Solid encore with the Stoned Me>Conrad!
Great to hang with Ted, John and Stephanie, Chris, Michael H., Richard C., Andi and Tracy Frank, Tom(Shooting Photography), Dante, John, Ken and Laurie, and the rest of the crew. The sound was great (Thanks Chris and Chris), and the lights too (Thanks Paul)!
Lunch earlier today, a recommended stop at Walter's by Cousin Eddie in Mamaroneck, New York. I had a couple of Grilled Hot Dogs with Spice Brown Mustard. The wait was a bit long as the staff was either all stoned (probable), or just totally inefficient. Dinner was a stop in Danbury at Fortune Cookie for some Spicy General Tso's Chicken, Broccoli, Pork Fried Rice, and an Egg Roll. The venue is very cool as you can bring food in! No drinks though. Due to their policy, I was able to get through Don't Wanna Lose You!

started downloading at 12:52 EST and was done less than 6 minutes later my daughter lives w twins I used to date and attends Post grad @Yale. They live in a beautiful community. They delivered specialty items by bicycle in Manhattan and as a business partner we relocated to Connecticut suburbs for discretion, It has worked out great for me when my daughter graduated Standford in 3 years w/ a double major, All 3 girls have genius !Q my Asian twins are chemistry prodigies one is patenting a vaccine for pancreatic cancer many orms are caused by a virus similar to hepatitis too bad too late for Mikey. Anyway glad your back Z;man and they live near New Haven and plenty of good food no fried rice and my possible brides I cannot decide are yakuza and I'm trained classically so no Geveral Tsos a local would have been more inntersting/Love your dedication
