Red Mouth is an original blues artist from the Muscle Shoals area, Florence, Ala., technically, but who's heard of Florence? He plays around the southeast and in eastern Europe where he's getting fairly popular.
This was the last set of the last show at the Old Town Tavern in Sheffield, Ala., the best live music venue for original local music in the Muscle Shoals area, bar none. It was fitting that Red Mouth was the final act since he was the FIRST act that played this downtown Sheffield bar.
Not much else to say except the show was great, yet bittersweet, because as the guy (don't know him) said at the end of the set, the O.T.T. was more than a bar, it was a place where great music was played, heard, seen, friendships were made, etc.
I did all those things there and taped probably every decent original local band in this area and at least 50 out of town bands in three plus years of taping. The owner let me tape with no problems and I got in free many nights and gladly paid the $5 cover when I didn't. In turn, I brought him copies of many of the shows.
It will be missed.
