This was the second time for me to see/tape An Abstract Theory. This is a great local band with a guitarist who has been playing since he was seven. Kirk turned 26 earlier this year.
If you like loud guitars, inspired by Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn and Doyle Bramhall Jr., you'll like this. Kirk's father is Max Russell, a local blues/rock guitarist who's been playing for years around the Shoals.
The band was headlining the Old Town Tavern's third birthday party. This used to be THE place for live music in the Muscle Shoals area until it closed a couple of weeks ago. Sorry for the holes in the set list.
For some reason, and I think it was a T-bar fail, I was taping with the Church Audio > Edirol R-09 rig and I was pleasantly blown away by the results. It turned out exceptional, considering I can never set up DFC and there's normally a lot of noise in this tiny room. This time, however, it came out great! enjoy!
