Thanks a lot! The other Rolfe recording from 76' sounds really sweet. Looking forward to hearing this one.

Be forewarned folks. I was editting this in Sound Forge so I could run the Early and Late as complete shows in my iPod, without sector breaks. And it sounds way, way too fast to me. As an example: The early Deal clocks in at a breath under 7:30 minutes. My immediate feeling was stretch it out another twenty seconds. Nope. Still too fast. Another ten. Still too fast. I got up to 8:10 minutes and it started to sound "normal" to my ears. Energetic, hopped-up as a closer. But not "fast." That's a whopping 9.1% reduction in tempo. After hearing Deal a million times, you get a feeling for Jerry's tempo on songs. Most of the rest of the show is similar. Midnight Moonlight in the Late Show is ridiculous uneditted.

Just my two cents.

BTW... two excellent shows as distant, airy, but well recorded captures from the balcony.
poorlilwhiteboy 2010-10-30 17:37:14
Let me rephrase that. Now that I've listened to both Early and Late shows all the way through... absolutely SMOKING shows! One of the best nights I've ever heard.
sea2speak 2010-11-08 08:59:09
Smokin' performance and excellent sound! Thanks!

It was 1982. Jerry was powdering his nose & playing fast. This recording is pitched properly.

Love this timer period for Jer's playing, rippin' it up and pretty consistently well-played shows, comparatively...
