-- THE SHACK PROJECT --
This is an effort to seed all existing MMW shows, and yes, preserving the original SHN/FLAC filesets. The seeding will proceed chronologically for the most part, with exceptions as we feel the vibe to seed other gigs from other times.

Thanks to MMW for allowing their music to be recorded....really, thank you.

Huge thanks goes out to the tapers, without whom this wouldn't be possible...and those that have helped get the tunes to our ears.

And thanks to the other 5 guys I've dragged into this and who seem committed to the cause: Louie, Mike Tom, Todd & Jeff....we're all listening to these shows and hopefully circulating the best versions.

All shows listed here in SHN/FLAC will be seeded:
http://db.etree.org/duggy/mmw

These shows will be seeded as well, either by me or by one of a few other kind souls:
http://db.etree.org/duggy/mmwaccess

Shows listed here circulate in some manner. We are looking for as close to the original source as we can get so if you can help out with any of the following, we'd all appreciate it:
http://db.etree.org/duggy/mmwneeds (this list is in the process of being compiled...maybe forever?)

I've started a thread over here for us to be able to discuss this project:

enjoy the grooves,
Louie, Mike, Tom, Todd, Jeff & dug

***FOR ALL YOUR SETLIST NEEDS***
MMW Performance History @ http://mmwhistory.com - this is a fantastic resource that allows you to look at info on gigs by MMW and related side projects and guest appearances; big thanks to Tom for creating this page.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

We are actively updating all setlists as we seed, and also others outside the particular order of the project.

db.etree is also being updated in tandem with the updates to Tom's pages -- both the source and show pages.

Well, now that I've recovered from the flurry of new shows and digested some that new music (I'm listening to them do the Club D'elf tune Sand w/Rivard right now -- killer!), and so it's now time to jump back into the Fall of 2000 ...

From the wild improvisations that open the show to the way The Lover slides > Gonzo, this is simply another outstanding show from an outstanding tour/season ... Cyro is always welcome to my ears ... 3rd Stone continues to populate the setlist each night, but it's interesting as they toy with the middle breakdown -- sometimes a Drum Solo, or Bass'n'Drums, or a Bass Solo ... we're going to find the tune dissolving out of the Drum Solo a little further into the run ... very cool to follow the development of the way they play different tunes.

Oh, and the Bone Digger > Felic combo is pretty sweet -- those tunes are wacked! -- and that leads > The Dropper ... just a very cool run of tunes right there, I think.

Hey duggy--

Thanks for gettin' back on track with the shack!! Weren't you gonna upload 7/15/00(I think) for some guy??
Did that ever happen??

Cheers!!
duggy 2010-11-27 10:35:24
Yep, 7/15/2000 was the gig, but I gotta wait until the source gets to me ... which I'm still hoping does come to fruition.

Awesome to see this surface! For whatever reason, there were several years running where MMW always played a few shows in the Maryland / Virginia area right around Thanksgiving, and it became a tradition for a friend and I to catch at least one.

This was one of the best from those years -- the 9:30 Club is a great venue, and Cyro Baptista adds an incredible dynamic to the band -- I've always been impressed by how well he can keep up with MMW, helping to propel improvisational forays to the next level.

This was an amazing show, as I remember, and I'm excited to listen again!

Long live Dropper brownies...

yay fall 2000!
great time for MMW.
I did this and the Nova the next night to kick off a great tour.
I believe this is the first live version of The Dropper (could be wrong)
wrightreyes 2010-11-27 12:53:09
well, looks like they played The Dropper on 11/3/00 so this might be the 2nd one.
thanks shack project!
crogers23 2010-11-27 18:19:20
This was my first MMW show - I've been watching this space for a while to see if it would be posted. Many thanks for all you're doing with the Shack Project! It's appreciated!
duggy 2010-11-27 23:07:32
I guess the first public performance of the tune The Dropper would have been at the 10/11/2000 CD release party ... then Halloween, and then it becomes a fixture of the tour and their live repertoire over the next while ... and ya know, I didn't once catch this tune live ...
wrightreyes 2010-11-28 12:08:07
I don't think they played The Dropper at that 10-11-00 party.
Maybe Halloween was the first public one.
Hope 2011 will be the return of The Dropper (and Bone Digger please)
duggy 2010-11-28 12:16:17
"I don't think they played The Dropper at that 10-11-00 party."

HA! Nope! They didn't ... my bad ... you're right, Halloween 2000 is the first known performance of the tune ...

And I'll 2nd that Bone Diggar revival!

Thanks a lot! Anybody have the latest 9:30 club show?
