I've been listening to this show for the last week, and still believe it is the best show I've ever heard. I first got these tapes in summer 96 and it was by far the best show i'd heard from years before it.

Fast forward 14 years and it still is. People will say that there are versions of songs better, and sure there are, but when it comes to a "whole show" i don't thnk many compare to the execution, perfection, wittiness, and tastiness that this show has to offer.

The Friend>ha ha ha is genius, the Stash is so sick (trey's notes in the beginning of the jam still haunt my thoughts), the dog logs are very fun and the crowd participates well, the llama is just totally balls out(more so than many versions I've heard) and the last 4 songs of the first set are perfect.

The second set is by far a masterpiece. The curtain is perfect, but the Bowie is easily the best i know i've ever heard. It still is and the level of evil i don't think will ever be topped by the Phish today. Trey loops a lot of feedback during My Friend and the end of the Stash jam and I think from llama too, and saves it all show for use in Bowie. It's really amazing, at least to me! Every idea he plays, all show, is great and it's such a treat to hear him develop thoughts as the show goes on. The chord change turnaround in Bowie that ends the jam goes on forever, which makes it extra intense. The rest of the set is super good, the mango is well placed and the Scent is Mule Duel history. Hood is pretty and Warren shreds.

So to pine about this show, it's been a 15 year favorite of mine and every phan today that hasn't heard this needs to immediately! this source sounds soooooo good i can't explain it, thanks for the posting!
