why do people keep posting this show? especially in quality inferior to ones previously posted? just curious

that's not exactly a statement of gratitude in the holiday season there my friend. That aside, this is a new source from a taper who has recently began to share some of his WELL recorded GD and Jerry shows.
SBDS arent everything and equipment doesn't nescessarily make a tape. Its location and skills, and if you paid attention to NHoeys 82 JGB, you'd be downright stoked to see this kitten posted, as I am, with out even hearing it yet...
Gotta let yer ears do the work, there more than enough bandwidth and harddrive space in the world..cant ever ever have enough GD sources..I believe the closest of the best tapes are Just opening...come a time when many many older sources will be obsolte sounding

I did consider that there are numerous recordings in circulation of this particular weekend. I decided to go ahead for several reasons. The first was that more original sources being available is a positive not a negative thing. Also, these two shows were among the very best GD audience tapes I did myself. Also I went to the archive and did some careful comparisons and found that my versions held up quite well with the others. So it seemed a reasonable thing to do.
Finally, I had circulated my shows in the past without my real name and that was causing some problems with attribution and lineage, so I wanted to get that addressed too. |

I suppose I should add that the transfer to DAT was done circa '95 and the mastering to discs was done circa '00, in case anyone is wondering about such now antiquated lineage. I wasn't prepared to devote the time required to do a full redo from the cassettes. I may eventually...

Then thanks "musigny23", now i 'get it'. Jamie, simmer...its not a notion of gratitude or not gratitude, its a matter of throwing out a question w/ out feeling like I / we shouldn't pose questions etc, and not feeling compelled to throw down a bunch of 'niceties' around it. just a simple question.

Well, you did say "especially in quality inferior," there, didn't you? Did you just pull that out of your ass, or have you compared this new source with the other(s) that you possess? Perhaps one man's polite style is another man's "bunch of niceties," but you definitely came across like a jerk, whether you've already compared this source with all the others, or not, and regardless of what your determination might be.

even with the tape>Dat, and CD steps in the lineage this a quality recording that is on the same level as the NAK700 and the Sony sources i have heard. i'd LOVE to hear what a 24 bit transfer of the master cassette would sound like.
