Comment: I wasn't thrilled how this came out, it hasn't been played for 28 years. The lows and low mids are blurred and muddy and several songs are slightly cut at the beginning. There is some good playing by Jerry though.

I appreciate your efforts. These were some wonderful recordings.

I confess I've been curious to hear some feedback about this one but haven't gotten any, which was both a little surprising and disappointing. I appreciate the comments that offered thanks for posting though.

I haven't gotten to it yet, but hope to do so soon. Thank you for taping and sharing!

My first rule with JGB shows....all shows with Roadrunner get downloaded without a 2nd thought

As for sound quality....its not hateful....they played in a shed, it isnt the Keystone, but still rocks out
musigny23 2010-12-30 00:38:52
"they played in a shed"

Yeah, not a bad setting, just a horrible space for music. Since it was a 2 hour drive from Santa Cruz, I generally passed on stuff there.

I am through most of the show and into TUIB now. I think this is a very good pull for a very bad-sounding venue. I haven't heard a bunch of tapes from this place, less still from this particular era. But I saw a handful of shows there in the late 80s and the sound was just never very good.

Thank you very much for taping and sharing!

musigny, do you remember Tutt or Kreutzmann playing drums at the next shows a few weeks later? There is some discussion of that over at the blog Jerry Garcia's Middle Finger (http://jgmf.blogspot.com/2010/12/jgb-early-1980s-drummers-and-backup.html).
jjoops 2010-12-30 09:56:30
By the way, I am curious as to why the first set was so short. Was there any explanation given at the show? This is pretty early for a 40-minute set. (Those wouldn't really become common until 1985!)
musigny23 2010-12-30 15:35:18
I can't help with the drummer question, I attended JGB shows intermittently. I don't think I went to the following shows.
No particular or stated reason for the short first set that I remember.
