| I was at this show... now I didn't see shows in the 80's or 70's, I was only 21 at this show, but the Scarlet>Fire is epic.... give it a listen. |

| I, too, am a fan of this Scarlet > Fire. I also happen to like this Corinna, though I know a lot of others do not share that sentiment. :) |

| I was at this one and I still don't understand the attraction everyone has to this scarlet fire. Long doesn't necessarily equal great. It has some interesting spots but theres a lot of rambling in between them. The one from charlotte with hornsby the next spring reaches much higher heights without the down time. Or check out 9/13/93 for a short one that is tight as a drum. |

| This whole show features very interesting moments in the rhythm section. The Scarlet Fire is a gem...but the entire show is solid. One of the last two I caught...Jerry sounds like a wounded soldier, but soulful nonetheless! |

| Funny you mention the drummers Clelli. As i remember it jerry had his head down for most of this scarlet fire as he tried to work out where he wanted to go. Bobby and the drummers were putting in a noticeable effort to keep things from bogging down. Again, for 94 its pretty good but theres a lot of wandering that doesn't go anywhere. When I first heard it on tape it came across a lot beter than it did to me that night. |

92 gli:
I hear you. The Spectrum 93 is real tight, but the reason I like this one a ton is for that loosness, and that openness, that Jerry wandering around feel to it. It's extremely bubbly and bouncy. His licks are sharp, and while not always tight in direction, they're exploratory even if just wandering loosly.
The Boston one from 10/1 is great too, as is the 3/23/95 Charlotte version, but none match the "bigness" of this one. And yea the timing means something to mean. Even if all of those minutes were not taking you somewhere specifically or to that moment, they were transcending for me! |

It has a MAGICAL feel to it for me. Probably the best way I can describe it.
First time I heard it was on from Gans on the GD hour a week or so after the show. And yea, it was love at first site for me. :) :) :) |
