Great show. The recording turned out very nice as the crowd was very attentive and respectful.
You can fit the entire show on two discs, by tacking Mountain Man on the end of Disc 2.
Enjoy!

Awesome, huge Decemberists fan here! Seeing them on Valentine's Day at the Fox in Oakland.
Has anyone heard there recording of Row Jimmy? I read about it in a recent Rolling Stone, haven't heard it, but holding out hope for it to make a 2/14 appearance in Oakland |

tapermark: I've not pulled a bad tape since I started with the Neumann active setup. Versatile, great sound, etc. The Little Box is a great Pre-Amp, and you can go on and on about Sound Devices products.
buncombe: Look over at the Live Music Archive for a version of Row Jimmy. I believe there's a downloadable copy of 01/31/2011 where they played it. I believe if you search it in Youtube you can also find it.
I'm really digging this band as well. They just announced a second leg of the tour with Justin Townes Earle. I'll be hitting another Mid-west show for sure. |

Many thanks for all your efforts !!
... at first I was kind of disappointed you didn't give MM their own torrent but attaching them to The Decemberists will likely bring them more listeners - which they most definitely deserve. ;)
Thanks again, O'B |

Mountain Man
Reviewed by Bernard Zuel

The Famous Spiegeltent, January 13
YOU would have reason to be a mite sceptical. Three young women who met at a prestigious New England college, singing songs in the style of some pre-World War I backwoods family troupe, with nothing but an occasional guitar to accompany their voices? They cannot be serious.
Or maybe, they are just too serious.
However, that this was neither an earnest, academic exercise nor a pastiche or conceit was quickly apparent. Two of the three looked like they had just tumbled out of bed – Alex Sauser-Monnig might well have still been in her PJs – and there was about them an affectionate, sometimes giggly camaraderie which transferred to an audience soon happy to howl like prairie dogs as an alternative to applauding.
When Mountain Man sang, their voices sometimes blending, sometimes building on the others like a layer cake, sometimes spiking at sharp angles, there was no irony, no metaphorical wink at the tweeness of wonder at nature or comfort in faith. Instead it was respect amid what clearly was for them the pleasures of almost preternaturally suited voices at play.
Although they can switch roles, Molly Erin Sarle most often offers the lonely, naturally echoey and sometimes penitent voice – let's call it "the Nun". Sauser-Monnig brings the flutier, lightly dancing voice which can shed a tear, what might be called "the Damsel". Amelia Randall Meath has the unifying middle tone, a front parlour voice for "the Mistress of the House".
Put them together in Dog Song and there is evoked a clear-skyed night around the campfire. In How'm I Doin' the decor changes to a dusty floor, cleared for post-supper heel-toe. And when Randall Meath takes a solo run at Tom Waits's Green Grass, you get a minor-key tragedy.
You're right. It's a ridiculous notion that a 21st-century audience would find anything to enjoy in this unadorned, antediluvian style. We have electricity, cars and Twitter, after all.
Yeah, well, colour me – and this whole beaming room – ridiculous.

Colour me as well then....as i've been enchanted by the voices, tunes and the freshness of these girls, apparently so happy and still touched to do what they were doing.
Here is part of the souvenir they let in my eyes...

You're welcome. The attentiveness of the audience made the Moutain Man set all the more enjoyable. The colors within the vocal harmonies really jump out at you.
Thanks for setlist info as well. |

James Beam tends to bring out the Randy Savage in me. |
