Thanks for the recording and post Scott. Looking forward to hearing.

Want to second Randy's comments below. Ian has been brought along slowly, but seeing him with Dumpstaphunk this past Friday in Baltimore, his playing has become more confident and he is taking quite a few more solos. A few of them were blazing. He hardly ever looks inspired on stage though and could definitely use a bit more showmanship, but is what it is - plenty of time to grow into it. His chops are sharpening for sure.

"Russell Batiste on Jack Daniels" HA!

anyway... Scott I do have to say that Ian Neville is becoming quite a lead player. During any given Dumpstaphunk show, he does take the lead at least once or twice. Recently I thoroughly enjoyed one of his lead solos while standing directly in front of his amp, and I can say that I think he's progressing in leaps & bounds. Perhaps his lead playing was weak the last time you saw him with the Funky Meters, but Ian has really become road tested over the last 3 years...

But I'll agree that Brian is still a master that fits like a glove in the Funky Meters guitar slot. He also brings alot of energy that Ian is lacking., which is needed with Art somewhat disengaged due to his declining health...

Thanks for recording, can't wait to check it out! I really dug the Tip's show with Brian back in January.

Does anybody happen to know of a recording of Dumpstaphunk's Baltimore show??

I've gotta say this looks like one hell of a set-list! Thank you so much, Scott, for taping and sharing this with us!! Nice pics, too! I can't wait to listen!
