satchmo--
while all three recordings sound great, I think this one is the best by a very very slight margin. |

Oh Yeah - Big Huge Thanks to GOTFOB for starting all the decks after the very short break!!!! If it wasn't for G being on top of it none of us would have a complete second set.

satchmo--
i misread. should have directed my response to gza1340.
i disagree with you about not comparing and discussing recordings. that's what this site is for. not everyone wants to download all three and take the time to compare. of course, I agree with you--quality does depend on the listener. But I think opinions are ok, as long as we don't disparage a taper or his/her recordings. Just my 2 cents. Big thanks to ALL of the tapers for doing the dirty work for the rest of us!!!! |

| I want to thank you for the upload. I am jealous of the folks who are getting to see them on this tour. I was introduced to MMW back in the early nineties, so to listen to them play the older "stuff" is great. I haven't been able to see them live since 99, so this is a treat. |

mysteryfunk--
thanks for the feedback. As always, much love to all the hardworking people out there recording the music and sharing it with us. Usually when there are multiple sources to choose from I just like to know where to start, have a listen and if it's not to my liking, try another one. Of course each listener is gonna hear something different and these differences from source to source are usually quite subtle, so hopefully no one takes anything that is said too personally. Most of the recordings these days are Fantastic.
To capture the essence of a show in sound and spirit is truly an art form and should be discussed as any art form is. |

Huh? My deck was rolling thru the break...one of the huge perks of HD recorders is you can just leave them going...no more missed set 2 openers for me. For Set 1's, OTOH, with my traditional two-minute-offense approach (thankfully not for this night!), well, no machine can compensate for taper flail. :)
I noticed someone whistles in the first few seconds of Partido Alto and they're in both gotfob & my left channel, satchmo's right channel. Our rigs were separated by about 3 feet along the balcony rail and they must've been below and directly between us! |

This show is so damn good! Pakalolo! Dracula's been requested a number of times this tour, always nice to hear. Lover, Sequel, what a great first set. And then set two, omfg, just insanely great groove, so in the pocket. Fantastic recording too, sounds great on headphones.
Big thanks for sharing!
