| 9 song first set seemed rare at the time. crazy>uncle was good and as soon as drums start it gets weird. lots of crazy new sounds getting worked out this tour during the drum solos, this one was good. classic wheel>watchtower>dew and, yes, this dew was talked about afterward as one of the best. |

Great first set! The Jack Straw had us all floored, though it is short. Check out Jerry at the end of the solo! Everything is upbeat. I still love the end jam in Music. The interplay between Bruce and Vince is really funky. The pre-drums is another story. It sucked. What happened to the band that played the first set? Post-space did redeem the show, though I wouldn't call the Dew "one of the best". It's good.
Funny story about the encore, as my buddies and I are driving from Madison, WI for these shows, we were listening to 11/1/85. Taking in the fact that they boys had just busted out Satisfaction in Landover, I proclaimed that they would bust out Gloria at these shows. When Bobby started it, I jumped up an down on my seat like a lunatic(I was 22nd row on Phil's side). Friends from Madison and Milwaukee spotted my freak out all the way from the upper decks. Never before and since had I called a true bust-out, let alone an obscure one at that. I was going to enjoy it for all it's worth and still brings a smile to my face 19 years later. It's a slower than usual version, but really raunchy. Great way to end an up, then down, but up again show. |
